What is crossover steering?

My wife is going to crap when I tell her I gotta dump some more money into this dang Jeep. I just bought the IRO tie rod!!!

Is there a quick fix for this? I have a drop pitman arm I have not put on yet. It is about 1" lower than stock.

Just wondered if the high angle of the drag link is causing this.

If you make an imaginary straight line between the mounting points of the drag link, and you make another one between the mounting points of the track bar, the two straight lines should be parallel.

I know I sound like an idiot and probably getting on your nerves but when you say steering bars, do you mean the track bar and drag link?

Yep. Don't worry about getting on my nerves. I'd rather help you understand once than answer the same question on three different days. And I edited my previous post to be more clear.

Well I just went outside and looked at it. The drag link is definitely at more of an angle than before. As far as the connecting points being parallel it is hard to tell without using a straight edge or string but I can tell you the drag ling and track bar are not parallel as far as the angles are concerned.

The track bar has an offset on both ends but the main part that angles down is not parallel with the drag link. Even though my drag link is at a high angle, it still looks like it would have to go up more(which would make the angle worse) to be parallel with the main part of the track bar that runs at an angle. Hope that makes sense. So I guess that is why you go from connecting point to connecting point with the lines and not eyeball the angles?

I would take a picture but it is too dark out obviously.

Check with string when you're able. The shapes of the bars don't matter as long as the lines you make between the mounting points are parallel.

Thanks for fixing that. Easier to understand. I will check that in the morning and go from there.

Just out of curiosity, do all cross over steering kits require a lot of modification or are there any decent kits that just directly bolt in without modification, reeming of joints, etc.?

I'm not familiar with all the options out there. I wasn't close to that point with my Comanche, and I'm probably having a local shop do the setup on my YJ. I'm also doing an OTK swap for my tie rod.

Last question and I will be quiet the rest of the night. Is cross over steering and over the knuckle the same thing or two totally different set up's?

Thanks for all your help.
