Just shocks. And make your own TC drop. About $10. It's just a spacer between the frame and TC cross member. Your gaining the full leaf packs, very important, and it comes with lower control arms, new sway bar links, ss rear brake line and u bolts. You will get at a minimum 4.5" of lift that won't drop. No need for extended shackles. Just my opinion. No matter what brand kit you use I think you are going to need an SYE kit at 4.5". I tried the TC drop but it was vibrating too much so I did the SYE kit and rear shaft and removed the TC drop which actually gives you back that 1" of ground clearance. Also 6 degree rear shims. Runs great now. There is really no cheep way to do it right unless you are capable of hitting some junk yards and building your on kit from miscellaneous used parts. I own an auto repair shop and I didn't have the time or ambition to do it that way. I ordered every thing I needed new including shocks and installed it in 3.5 Hrs. The SYE kit took 1.5 hrs. Good luck P.S. The full leaf packs are the way to go.. You'll only have to do it once that way.

Default Lift Question

Recently purchased a 2000 XJ and was wondering what the biggest lift is i can fo without worrying about needing to drop the transfer case or needing a slip yoke eliminator? my friend said 3" would be fine. im not looking to do any EXTREME offroading, but would like the look and the added capability of a small lift and some 33" tires. Any thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks!

Yes the tire and lift BASIC sizes are
3 to 31/2 lift = stock to 31 inch tires
41/2 lift = 31 to maybe 33 inch tires (depends on lift manufacture)
51/2 to 61/2 lift you can clear 33's and 35's

Now he is right about doing a 3 inch lift you will not be able to fit 33s unless you cut your fenders witch is not that hard if you have the right cutter

Good luck man

So, after lurking here for a bit and reading a lot of posts, I have compiled a list of things that I want to do to my Cherokee and need some help with the lift department.

I have a stock 1987 XJ that is a little rough around the edges, but still a strong beast. I would like to lift her a bit, nothing to big though. I live in West Michigan and use this as my daily driver. I am not looking to crawl big rocks. Any off-road action I do is mainly going to camping or rock climbing sites, some of which are on some two tracks or rough trails. Budget-wise, I don't have a lot of money, but I figure I can swing somewhere around $400 or so. I have seen a lot on 2" Budget Boosts and am wondering if this would work well. I would like to put some slightly bigger tires, nothing bigger than 30", which, from what I have read, will be fine with this size lift. Is there anything else that I am missing with a lift this size that I may not be seeing.

Also, if it makes any difference, I am planning on putting an aftermarket front bumper on, possibly a rear one as well.

Thanks.

A budget lift can consist of many different things like in the rear you can do an "add a leaf" you can do a block under stock springs or you can do a "drop shackle"
Now in the front you can either just go with a bigger coil or do a coil spacer on top of coil.
Note anything over 3 1/2 inches of lift you will want to get a t-case drop or a slip yoke eliminator.

Ok, So I've been trying to Search for about 30 minutes now, with no luck. Because BDS is too damn short it wont search for it. So my question is... Can anyone link me to some threads... Or.. Does anyone have a BDS Suspension Lift on their Cherokee. I'd really like to know how it performs compared to Rough Country and Rusty's. Thanks!!

Zone.. Doesn't seem to offer the 6.5" kit like BDS does. The BDS 6.5" Long Arm Kit is what I am really interested in. But thanks for pointing me to Zone.. Had never heard of them before!

Are Old Man Emu lift kits worth their coin?
I need a lift that will still perform well on the road, as it is my only daily driver. Most people point to OME, and their reveiws are great, but Is their another brand that sells such a comprehensive kit that does as well on and offroad as the emu?
