Beach Bum
1. The Cherokee has a Rubicon Express 3.5 inch lift kit, and does have an SYE and double-cardan rear driveshaft, but doesn't have any shims. I'm eating up rear pinion u-joints, and I assume it's because of the pinion angle: I haven't actually measured it yet, but it looks pretty awful. I know how to make the measurements, but does anyone have a good quick primary guide to putting shims in?
2. After removing my anti-sway bars, the Jeep just refuses to articulate: the body tries hard to stay level with the axle. Is this just because the RE springs are stiff, or is there something else I need to pull before I can start getting some droop? I run some very off-camber trails, and I'm wagging a wheel in the air half the time, when there's no reason for it.
3. The bump stops in the rear seem to have been removed, and the bump stops up front are the originals, and I run trails hard. [Broke the seat mounts and seat belt receiver, shot the stereo out of the dash, and flipped over 80 pounds of subwoofer box last weekend, for example.] So I'm constantly bottoming out my shocks: this is a really awful thing to do, yes? What bumpstops should I get for a Jeep with ~3.5 inches of lift?
1.I suggest 4 degree shims. Jegs.com has free shipping.
2. Rubicon Express 3.5" coils have a rating of 241- 250 pounds per inch. This is 70 more than most springs. Intended to hold up to heavy bumpers and winches.Look at next post for spring rates.
3. Bump stops are a must! I prefer progressive bumps. Coil Spring Inserts upfront and these in the back, height adjusted to match the travel of the shocks.

OEM is supposedly 147 lb/in rate.
OEM ZJ with 4.0 is supposedly 190 lb/in rate front and rear.
Tera 4" TJ coils give 4.5" of lift on an XJ and have a 200 lb/in rate , 20.25" tall unloaded
Tera 3" TJ coils give 3.5" of lift on an XJ and have a 170 lb/in rate

I also noted last night while crawling around down there that the PO identified the lift wrong: he thought it was the Super Flex, but it's the Super Ride, so the lower control arms don't have that pivoting metal joint, but rather a rubber bushing. That may be the source of some of my binding: need to find a one-wheel ramp around here somewhere.
I'll make sure to get them in before I go hard running again: I did not like the feeling of bottoming out those shocks!
Bilstein 5100s, if I'm not mistaken. They're okay, but I'm thinking maybe not valved for high-speed offroading. The whole Jeep seems to have been set up more for posing than for actual off-road use: the absence of a front driveshaft and disconnection of the TC linkage, for example. Which is totally cool: it genuinely does look awesome, and it's a good daily driver, but it's going to need some work before I treat it like a Jeepspeed rig, which I probably should have thought of before I treated it like a Jeepspeed rig.

I had Hercules Trail Digger M/Ts. They were pretty good in mud, dirt, and gravel. I never had them on big rocks. But on the street they dont handle very well.
Tires are not something to cheap out on.

I have a 93 xj with a 4.0 I bought a year ago. The guy told me that it had a 3.5 lift. After looking at all kinds of picks, it looks bigger than others. The fenders have been cut and fender flares put on, and that might be why it looks bigger than others. It is sitting on 32x11.5. My question is, is there something I can measure on the suspension it's self to find out what size the lift is.

They're decent in sand, okay in watery mud.... they suck in taffy mud and clay
Pretty much just like a BFG A/T - jack of all trades - master of none.
They do perform great on the road though. They also wear very evenly. I have the Wrangler RT/S on the front and the Wrangler Radials (A/T's) on the rear.
