You said mudding. He recommended a Full Size Chevy on 52s.

Either shock will do. Either shock that comes with that kit is still a a plain ole white body shock. You'll never know the difference with your mud wheelin.

I'd suggest a FSC on 52's.
Excuse the nube question. But FSC on 52's? If this is referring to tire size I'm not interested in going bigger than 30". The only reason I'm getting 3" lift is because I can't find a more affordable way to get 2" yet, plus I may get inchitus in the future I'm sure. And I haven't researched it but I have a feeling SYE is out of my budget (unless its that detrimental over the other options) that's why I was wondering about shims or t-case drop. As far as shocks I'm less concerned with off road performance as I am with on road ride comfort. I'm not looking to get to far from stock because it may not be long before this XJ gets a "baby on board" sign, I just want to give myself a little room for some mud slinging and trailing in the glades once a month or so.

Edit: Sorry for the double post, I was using the app on my phone and it said could not post so i rewrote with and changed the post in the process.

Stock meaning 3.55 on a 4.0L gas xj.

You're not actually going to get better mileage with 31's than stock simply because it's takes more work to get to 65.

On paper, if you completely ignore 0-64mph, it would appear that you'd get better mileage.

I get a smidge less with the 31's over stock.

As Low range said on paper youd get better mileage. What the chart doesnt take into account is a likely more aggresive off-road tire with a higher rolling resistance and the adding weight of the larger tire, both of which will require more gas to maintain the same speed.

Gears a kinda pricey, i dunno if its worth it to go from 3.55 to 3.73s and 4.11s may be a lil much. I know on my mustang 3.91s are known to whine a bit. Some one with better knowledge of jeep gearing can help out better. What kind of off-roading do you do?

I will make this as simple as I can. Any input would be appreciated.

2001 Cherokee sport

3-1/2" RE front coils
3-1/2" RE rear leafs
RE HD track bar and bracket
RE fixed LCA's
Rugged Ridge SYE
Adams 4x4 driveshaft
8* shims on rear axle
31 / 10-50 / 15 Duratrac's

At 30 to 45 MPH I can feel a slight vibration (enough to be annoying and make the dash creek) at 60+ MPH it vibrates so bad I think my fillings are gonna fall out. Because I have RE rear leafs and they are WAY over-arched (back sits about 2" higher than the front) I currently have about 600 pounds of sand bags in the back of the jeep hoping this would 1) break in the new leaf springs 2) help get the ride height to where it should be and 3) make the vibrations less, which it is why it is as good as it is now. You can imagine how bad the vibrations were before the weight and shims were added. The extra weight has cut my gas mileage in HALF. Eventually i will ditch the lift and go back to stock height but I cannot afford to do that at this time. Any other ideas out there?

Got a quickie/confirmation.

Doing an s10 bastard pack. Now correct me if I'm wrong.
The s10 pack has a 5/16 center pin

While the xj pack has a 3/8 center pin

Therefore when I purchase new center pins, I need to get 5/16 ones and widen the hole in the xj pack?

Yes. I believe you also need to drill the hole in the spring perch to accept the new pin.

Can you post pictures of your driveline? Have you considered a tire vibration, front end wobble, or driveline imbalance?

Here is a picture of the angle at the rear axle. The drive shaft is SUPPOSED to be balanced up to 100mph ... I assume i get a little vibration from it at higher speeds because at 65mph if I let off the gas I hear the "growl" and assume that is the drive shaft but anything under 60mph is only vibrates when i am stepping on the gas.

THIS vibration did not start until the lift was installed and got better with the shims and SYE installation so i am 99% sure its drive line related. Before the lift was indtalled, i had a vibration but only under HEAVY acceleration ... that went away when the SYE was installed so I assume my slip yoke was causing this.

That does not help ... LOL

What else could cause vibrations ONLY under load if not the angle of the drive line?
