I've had a 3.5" lift on my XJ for the past 2-3 years. I am happy with mine. It had 31's then I stepped to 33's and now I have 35's. I'm still happy with it. It's not too big and works well

3.5" wasnt big enough for me lol went to 5.5" so I could stuff 38s here soon. 35s worked well for me at 2.5" & 3.5" tho.

Read up on low cog lifts, for me, personally, that's where it's at. My xj has a slight lift on it by the po but is in the form of block's in the rear and spacers in the front. I will be ditching them shortly and going with a 3-3.5 lift. It becomes personal preference on lifting high or a proper selected low cog lift...personally for me it will be a low center of gravity lift. 4-5 really imo is reaching the end of low cog lifts.

2 Questions:

I'm planning a build with the goal to lift the cherokee ~4".
I will be using OME CS0033RB leafs.
Does anyone have experience using these leafs and tuning the shackle angle?

-longer shackle?
-Relocation bracket?
-longer shackle + relocation bracket?

Or is this something I'm going to have to "wait and see" as I install my lift?


2. Will a jeep with ~4" lift, 33s, stock roof rails fit inside the standard garage? 7'

1. Yes, I have virtually those same leafs just the slightly stiffer version. I think the springs are pretty much settled (on for about 4 months) and the shackle angle isn't great, maybe about 70* or so. It rides a little stiff, but still a very nice ride.

In my case, the shackle angle could definitely be perfected with a lo-pro relocation box, and a slightly longer shackle if you want to keep in the ~4" area.

That being said, this is definitely a "you'll have to wait and see" situation. Your springs may settle more and be of optimal shackle angle, meaning you might only need a longer shackle to get right up to 4" lift.

Finally, yes you should fit in the garage.

Gonna be in the market for some 31's some time in the coming months and was hoping to go with retreads for the price point. Can't seem to find any that fit on 15" rims though hoping someone could point me in the right direction. Also how much lift should I run to get the max amount of flex from 31's. I was thinking maybe 3.5 but I'm a noob so second opinions are welcome

Treadwright.com

3.5" will be great, I've got the same. I only rub my control arms with stock wheels, but the tires tuck into the fenders nicely.

Thanks I've heard a few people say go with treadwrites before so lookin like that's what I'm gonna shoot for. Sweet what brand of lift are you running? I was lookin at rough country (if you can't tell by now, I'm on a budget haha) is that worth it or is it one of those cheap gonna fall apart in one trail lifts?

RC is a cheap fall apart kinda lift kit in my personal opinion.

I bought a 98 cherokee with a unknown two inch lift. I have looked and do not see any spacers.so i have two questions.1)what kind of lift could this be and 2)could i do spacer to add another 2'' and add a tranny drop. I know it would be better overall to just do a 4'' kit but im on a budget

Ok, There are simply TOO many posts to look through, although all have been fairly informative.

Rocking a 90 Cherokee laredo:
I want to do mod. trailing mainly for accessing. I'm interested in having a LA kit but for starters I want to piece things together since I'm enlisted and am poor as ****.

I'd be happy with the price tag over the brand, but I'm eying RC, RE and ProComp.

Question: Would I be safe with just a 3 in. (or 2.5/ 3/5) suspension lift without having to increase my tire size, replace DS or any other component such as steering components?

With given lifts, could I also later include a long arm kit for increased travel? would I need to replace shocks? Leaf springs?

also, Could I, with all afformentioned setups add an additional lift to the body?

you can't body lift an xj because it's a unibody. You can add long arms to 3.5 inch lift pretty easily, any lower and I think you'd have clearance issues with most long arm setups. I highly recommend 3.5 inch rubicon express. Lots of people run it and like it. I do not recommend rough country because they willfully sell defective parts. All you need to replace when you go to long arms will be brake lines and maybe shocks to get the most travel possible out of your suspension. If you don't want to get bigger tires, is stay under 2.5 inches of lift, but having a lift doesn't do anything for performance. Bigger tires are what make a rig more capable. Lift just makes it easier to fit them and adds a little travel. Upgraded steering is a must with any lift or bigger than stock tires in my opinion. It's kinda important.

ide like to avoid cutting up my existing pack if i can, and truth be told its probably best if its replaced anyways.

If you dont want to cut your packs you can still lift the rear with lift shackles. Cheap and give you anywhere from 1 to 2 inches of lift. For $30 you can can grab a set of drop shackles for a 1998 chev or gmc 1500 from autozone that will lift your rear around 2in. They require very minor modification to fit( i had to grind the steel sleeve down in.the bushing about an 1/8th inch
