Ok. yes, OME is top stuff. I don't believe you said the brand before.

What kind of shocks are they. Standard white body?

That is the kit I am running on mine (a bit cheaper from 4wheel parts, but didn't come with some of those other bells and whistles, it was purely the suspension components). over a year later, and couldn't be happier with the ride quality. the rear leaf springs are a bit goofy, tail sticks up too much, but am told that will settle. I need bigger tires for sure, running 245s at the moment. The lift will accommodate up to 31s according to 4wheel guys and another website I saw.

Default Newbie information wanted

Hey everyone, this is an awesome site and ive been wheeling since last summer and just bought a new 94 XJ. Im looking to install a 4.5"lift myself but not sure where to even start. Could anyone provide a good link that would have step by step info I could utilize?

I installed the Old Man Emu (OME) kit from DPG on my kids Cherokee. The ride quality great. She uses it as a daily driver to compute to college, i wanted to replace the stock sagging springs with something safer, If i had to do it all over again id pick the same lift from same company.....oh, i did. Just lifted my LJ with an OME kit from DPG.

Someone asked about the shocks...DPG uses Old Man Emu nitrogen shocks for the kits they put together.

Only other kit i have personally ever used was SkyJacker for a YJ, and im much happier with OME stuff.

I have the 3.5 inch ultimate OME hybrid kit from DPG. I have to say the leafs are a little short so while the ride is good it could be better with SRB or leaf sliders.

I can't help you there, but I'm curious why you want a LA setup at 3". It's regarded as unnecessary at that height

I want to increase my wheelbase a little and would like lots of down travel without the axle wrapping around under the body and a smoother ride.

Adjustable control arms. Got pictures of your articulation? Your axle won't wrap under the body with the stock control arm configuration. That's impossible. Your lcas will hit the shock bracket, and that's as much flex as you're going to get.

Long arms at 3" is not really a great idea. You'll have issues with the arms hitting the "frame" on up travel

Thats why I interested in seeing if some one has run it. There are a couple of rigs on here at 3'' with clayton and serious radius arms but havent seen any body do it with IRO. I am concerned with frame to arm clearance at full stuff. Im dooing my research to make my xj a serious low cog rig that is still a decent DD. I realize that the axle cant physically wrap under the body but it does drop a lot further back on a short arm than a long arm with lots of down travel. I am also considering ajustable shortys.

at 3" i'd stick with adjustable short arms. True long arms extend back too far at 3" and will hit the frame on compression.

for reference mine is lifted ~5" in the front on adjustable LCAs. I drive it ~45 miles comfortably very day and it flexes very well.

I know your rig dukie, I've read your build start to end and back again. Great work . This build is the one that got me on the 3'' lift long arm kick.

I'm working my way up to 33s with the same lift bump stopped with longer shocks and break lines and then hope fully better control arms and a no lift shackle relocation.

After reading threw Drews build thread I can say you are mistaken.
