This. MTs are phenomenal. I'd buy some for the YJ if they made them in 35s.

Agreed.

And 3.75" or 4" BS are common. It only make a 1/2" difference in the total width of the axle.

And if ppl would cut the douchebaggery and put a set of newish 33" Destination MTs on craigslist for me for like a hundo, I'd be a happy camper myself.

(If you reside in MA and are reading this, take a hint!)

You can't body lift an XJ cuz it's unibody. Best bet would be a 2 or 3" lift. Maybe a 2" all the way around and a half inch of inch of shackles in the rear to make it sit higher. 31's look good with either option and as far as the tires poking I'd go with 4" or 3.75" BS wheels. Summit racing has good deals on those

Sooo I know with lift, you're supposed to relocate/redrill to move the track bar, or get an aftermarket track bar. My question is, what do people do for budget boosts? Is the amount that the axle is off-center measurable at that point? I hear that redrilling to relocate at a 2 inch lift can't be done because the new hole is too close to the old one?

Agreed. At 3" or more it should be replaced.

RE springs are pretty stiff, i think like 2x the spring rate of OEM, so you can do 4" springs and be pretty stable. but really good shocks will make the biggest difference. Bilstein or rancho 5000's are good ones.
id do RE 3.5" springs for front and for the rear id do 2" OME leafs and 1.5-2" shackles. now.. to the expensive stuff: you MIGHT need a SYE at this point. the rear will get to about the 4" mark without issue, but you will be eating u joints faster.. an SYE and shaft is around 300-500 depending. you'll want new control arms to match the height, tubulars from ebay are cheap enough.
Thanks for all the info. Which company does everyone recommend. I know everyone has a favorite but since I'm just getting into this I want to put quality parts on and not mess around with junk. Do I have to worry about drive shaft angles on a 3 inch lift?

Is it wise to go up to a 17 inch wheel when adding 30 inch tires or bigger?

Thanks

So 3in and 33s do the tires fit in the wheel wheel(after trimming of course) with stock control arms or is that 1/4 or 1/2 inch that the axle gets pulled back to much? (Can't I imagine it would make much of a difference but I thought I would check)

Depends on your wheels back spacing. Wait, scratch that...with stock control arms I'm pretty sure your gunna have some issues. But I may be wrong. There are others that will chyme in with a more expert opinion. But pretty sure I read that somewhere in here recently.

its wise to stick to a 15 inch wheel, tires get more expensive as you go up in rim size. Like a **** ton more expensive
