im a long time jeep lover and owner but first time posting on here. ive recently gotten myself a 2000 xj (the fourth one ive owned and ive never modified any of them) id like to raise it up just a bit but i will be using it as my daily driver. i was advised to go with a cheap body lift. i love the way the xj looks when the rear sits up a little higher than the front so i went with a 1 in the front and 3 in the back. as far as the wheels and tires go, im not really looking to go too much taller than the stock... im more concerned about the width. i love how they look when the tire sticks out about 2 inchs outside of the fenders. again nothing crazy.. just giving the jeep that subtle extra something. anyone have any advice or recommendations? thanks for reading ill be posting more questions in regards to my 96 xj (future beach toy) and my 04 grand cherokee

Sooo I know with lift, you're supposed to relocate/redrill to move the track bar, or get an aftermarket track bar. My question is, what do people do for budget boosts? Is the amount that the axle is off-center measurable at that point? I hear that redrilling to relocate at a 2 inch lift can't be done because the new hole is too close to the old one?

this. if you aren't willing to cut (btw if you take your time they look good) then make sure to bump stop properly. it will prevent over flexing/stuffing your tires. as Tony mentioned a BB is a cheap/easy way to obtain a small amount of lift. RE springs are pretty stiff, i think like 2x the spring rate of OEM, so you can do 4" springs and be pretty stable. but really good shocks will make the biggest difference. Bilstein or rancho 5000's are good ones.
id do RE 3.5" springs for front and for the rear id do 2" OME leafs and 1.5-2" shackles. now.. to the expensive stuff: you MIGHT need a SYE at this point. the rear will get to about the 4" mark without issue, but you will be eating u joints faster.. an SYE and shaft is around 300-500 depending. you'll want new control arms to match the height, tubulars from ebay are cheap enough.

Is it wise to go up to a 17 inch wheel when adding 30 inch tires or bigger?
Thanks

So 3in and 33s do the tires fit in the wheel wheel(after trimming of course) with stock control arms or is that 1/4 or 1/2 inch that the axle gets pulled back to much? (Can't I imagine it would make much of a difference but I thought I would check)

Depends on your wheels back spacing. Wait, scratch that...with stock control arms I'm pretty sure your gunna have some issues. But I may be wrong. There are others that will chyme in with a more expert opinion. But pretty sure I read that somewhere in here recently.

Thanks for all the info. Which company does everyone recommend. I know everyone has a favorite but since I'm just getting into this I want to put quality parts on and not mess around with junk. Do I have to worry about drive shaft angles on a 3 inch lift? Is it wise to go up to a 17 inch wheel when adding 30 inch tires or bigger? Thanks
