I looked seriously at both of those and ended up going with Cooper Discoverer AT3. 31" in the 'P' version.
Good road manners and quiet. In testing they performed better than BFG AT in mud and on highway.

I had rugged terrains on a durango. They are a very good street tire, but horrible in every off road condition. They sucked in the mud and snow compared to the all terrains.

KOs are definitely what you need then rugged terrains lugs (tread blocks) aren't wide enough to handle serious mud.

Looking at getting an OME lift for my otherwise stock 95 2 door. I settled on OME because what people are saying about the ride quality. This is my DD so highway ride is sadly more important than trail ride.

Question - looking at prices OME is a little more I get it, but the difference between a 2" and 3" lift is almost negligible. Considering it's a DD, can someone help me rundown the pros/cons of a 2" vs 3" lift? Running with 235/75R15's now but would like to eventually get up on 31's.

2" lift allows the use of a few more stock parts like shocks, but you'll be replacing those anyway if you want good ride quality. The difference from a quality 2" lift up to 3" is the addition of brake lines and an adjustable track bar.

Look a few posts back at Tom95YJ's, he has the RE 3.5" with 35 inch tires.

Yes, but you will need a wheel with less backspacing, or a spacer. With my 32's on 4" backspacing wheels, and an approx 3.5" lift I cleared the fenders fine, but rubbed on the stock control arms a bit. You will likely be fine.

If it's a highway DD, at 3" I would start looking at LCA's as well to get caster back up into a more preferable spec. If you are spending the money on a quality lift, I wouldn't half *** the rest of the components that go along with the lift.

LCAs are beneficial at 3", but they aren't needed unless you need to center a large (33"+) tire. It definitely wouldn't hurt to replace them, though. You're right about that.

Default What else needed for 4 inch lift

Hello have a question. I've looked through and can't seem to find the answer to my question for a 4 inch lift as much as 4 1/2 inch, thats on here. I'm lifting my 2000 XJ to 4 inches. I already have -----> A two inch lift with new leaf pack in rear.

I've already purchased the following------->

1) Rough Countries Adjustable relocation shackle mounts for rear

2) 2 inch shackles (rear)

3) ACOS adjustable spacers up front ( i wanted these to be able to adjust when I put my new bumper and wench on)

4) 2 New EMU Coil springs (front).

5) 5 BFG AT's 32x11.5 15's going on 15x8 3.75 BS, steel Black Rock Crawlers.

6) EMU 60052L & 60053L Sport Shocks for 3-5 inch lift.

7) Adjustable Track Bar for 3-5 inch lift

8) Bushwhacker cut out flares (front & Rear)

9) 1 inch T drop

My question is this? Going or staying around 4 inch lift. Will I need new LCA and Sway bar Connects? If I do need Sway Bar connects? With the limited amount of off road, basically just mainly DD, beach & dune cruising, will it be beneficial for adjustable sway bars or not? Keep in mind I may want to go a little higher (Maybe) at a later date. I guess in a nut shell, with what I've already purchased. Am I on the right track? Just need a little guidance to do and buy the right things. Thanks for any input you can offer.

Yeah, your on the right track, but there's a couple things that come to mind:

-The LCA's should be replaced at that height, if not your ride quality will suffer drastically. As this is a DD this will be more significant than if it only saw trails.
-The sway bar will need longer links. Getting disconnectable links is a good way to go. JKS sells em for like 150, but you can home brew them for super cheap. If your playing I the sand, I don think you'll want excessive body roll at speed. Disco the links for low speed stuff.
-Dont go any higher!! Why? What will it help? Unless your mud racing anything over 4.5-5" of LONG ARM suspension is, in my opinion, wasted money. Also, now that we've talked about LA suspension, that will be where you end up if you wan to do this right. You can fit 32's all day long on that height. No need to lift your COG if your axles are still close the ground.
-Some other things that come to mind are extending brake lines and getting a SYE. At about the 4" mark is when most XJ's seem to see driveline vibes.

You need an adjustable trackbar at 4" along with LCAs. UCAs can be replaced at 4" for perfect measurements, but they aren't necessary. You will need extended sway bar links, with or without quick disconnects. Extended brake lines.
You're also nearing the limitations of stock steering (around 5"), and there's a good chance you'll need an SYE.
