I have the same lift added the TC drop and I also have the same exact grinding at the same speed that your describing. I spoke to a driveshaft guy and that sound is the u joints. He told me that it would be fine but not to drive it at interstate speeds. I am waiting for the brown van to bring me 6* angle shims for the rear end as I to have no budget for a SYE either. They should be here by the end of the week. I will post my findings as soon as I get them installed.

Key question: Take say a quality lift such as a BDS. Does going 4.5 inch long arm make for a significantly better ride quality (on/off road) than a 3 inch short arm?
I didn't necessarily want more than 3 inch of lift as aesthetics go, until realized that to get a significantly larger tire in there (say 33's), would need to lift higher still... but then run into all the attendant extra details/expenses/trouble-shooting that goes with going higher.
Boils down to, might go the 3 inch route UNLESS the 4.5 long arm is likely a better ride when all said and done. Whaddya think?

First time considering a lift
So I am wanting a lift. I am ignorant in what I need to accomplish this. I am not going to be doing a lot of trail riding with it. Mostly it will be just to add a few inches of clearance. It's at stock height right now. I am looking at getting a 3" lift. If I do what exactly will I need to change and how big should the tires and wheel combo be? I know that is vague but before I buy I want to know what I need. Thanks in advance

My 88 XJ is sitting at stock ride height with 235/75/15 MT's.. Looking to increase the rear height just a bit. Probably in the 1-1.5" range.
I see a RC 1.5-2" rear shackle kit that looks like it might work. What are the other options (good companies) that provide a similiar kit?
Also, if I went with a front coil spacer in the neighborhood of 1" would this require an alignment after installation? What are the thoughts on spacers vs replacement coils in this lift range (small)?
Likewise, with the 1.5" rear shackle and 1" coil spacer, would different shocks be required? I need new front shocks anyway but just bought new factory height rear shocks.

For 3" of lift you NEED:
-coils
-leafs
-shocks
-track bar (adjustment or replacement)
-sway bar links
You should most likely get:
-LCAs
-Extended brake lines at least for the rear
You may also need:
-SYE or TC drop

Not sure that this is a lift question but I didnt want to start a new thread and its part of an ever growing lift.
I just put on new upper and lower CA's both adjustable. It rides, steers and handles bumps like a pro now. I really didnt think it would be this much of a differnce.
The uppers are those superflex joints on the body end and the lowers are regular bushings. Has any one noticed a drastic difference in road noise with just one set being the superflex style?
I know what everyone says about them but does anyone have first hand knowledge?

OK. 93 Cherokee lifted about 8.5 inches. Im trying to get my axel as close to normal as possible but cant seem to find a decently priced track bar. Lets see some suggestions on what track bar should I run and how much please and thank you. If it help this isn't a trail rig and it is not a daily. Allot of its life will be weekend driver.

I have a 2001 with 3" lift & 31's. I'd like to go a bit higher. 1" or 1.5". I can't afford a SYE/ds right now, so I thought about a TC drop. I've read a lot of good posts on here about people using them & I also read about how they are just "band-aids" & are bad for motor mounts. How hard on the mounts are they? I'm considering rear axle shims as well, even if I don't use a TC drop. What degree should I go with/without TC drop? I plan on keeping the 31's. Thanks for any help!
