Hey great thread, I've read up to pg 58 and it's been very educational. I was wondering something though.
If stock JK shocks work, for 3" of lift, what about aftermarket shocks? I think I might have found a deal on some OME Nitrochargers with 2k miles on them, for $200.
As of right now, i'm piecing together a lift that should net ~3-4 all around. I'm guessing if they're for a lifted JK, they might fully compress and damage the shock?
Hope my question makes sense,
DJ

zj shocks for xj
So I found a new set of (4) zone zj shocks for 4" lift and up country coil springs for $75. I currently have a 2" lift on my xj and am going another 1.5"-2" soon. I know the coils will only help 1" +/-. Can I use the zone shocks, or should I just wait and get some for a 4" xj lift. I am confused now that I am dealing with extended ZJ shocks. Thanks guys.

I have the RE 3.5 super ride kit with full leaf packs. I got 4.5-5"From it having to use a 1" spacer in front to level it. Looked great but rode pretty hard because of the increased angle of the control arms. I just added a RC control arm drop kit this past weekend and it made a huge difference in the ride. For $185 its the best investment I've made yet. Saved a lot of $$$ over a long arm kit.

Ok so I need some honest info about these wheels like quality and off road durability in a 15x8 and they will have 33x12.5 duratracs on them if that helps. The web site for them says they are built for off road. I don't care about scratches on them cause that will happen with any wheel. Thanks for any info possible.

Ok searched this thread and couldn't find my exact answer. Its a pretty easy one but here it is. How much rubbing will i have if i put 33x12.5's on my jeep with a 3.5" lift. I have 12" wide wheels now with 3.5" backspacing. Dont wanna do a ton of hacking and cutting on my fenders but if its an easy quick trim job i dont mind doing it so i have the extra height. Or will i just be best just sticking with 31x12.5's. I wanna go 12.5's either way so they fit my wheels better just cant decide 31's or 33's.

1989 Jeep cherokee limited
ok so I have an 89 jeep cherokee limited that I lifted with a 3" rough country kit about two and a half years ago. I bumped the rear up to 5 inches but left the front 3 inches. Last night I installed longer RC lower control arms for up to 4.5 inches of lift. Now even with the control arm shims out totally (still longer than stock ones even with the shims behind them.) I have some driveline vibes. They are not horrible but I think it threw off the pinion angle. Do I need to get 1 inch coil spacers to drop the axle so the control arms work correctly? Or should I just run it to an alignment shop to have them see if the caster or pinion angle can be adjusted. Thanks
