Thanks!
I recommend you go with 3.5" and 31s. If you want a little more of a gap between the body and tires, get a 4.5" lift and 31s. Either one will look nice if you don't plan to cut the fenders.

i have a bone stock 95 xj, and my suspension is definitely worn out. looking to go to a 2-3" lift and 30" rubber.

current systems i'm looking at
- OME 1.5" lift that's being sold by quadratec
- rancho 2.5" kit + optional leaf spring pack. not sure which shocks to go with, just know i want some sort of nitro shock
- RE 2" budget with add-a-leaf and new factory replacement springs/coils

looking for a commuter friendly package. are there other options out there that are in the under 3" lift category?

You just won't beat Old Man Emu in terms of quality. It's an excellent kit if you aren't looking to go too high.

I don't recommend Rancho simply because they don't have the best spring rate for Cherokee lift kits. It won't give you the best performance or the smoothest ride.

And while Rubicon Express is a great company, I don't advise any lift kit with AAL instead of full replacement leaf springs.

The best thing you can do is build your own kit it'll save you money. If you want a pre packaged kit and your gonna stick with the 30's just go with the OME.

i've been reading a bit about avoiding AAL's, but it seems to be limited selection of spring packs in the short lift range i'm looking at. how do you feel about lift shackles as long as the shackle mounts get relocated for optimum angle?

Shackles lifts not worth it. Do it right. Get OME lift. Get zone shocks or similar. People swear by bilstein.

Nope. Bilstein are generally regarded as the best option for Cherokees if you're willing to pay for them.

This. Im personally running JK style Monroe shocks and like the ride. Also, all white body shocks are the same exact thing. And i had zone nitro shocks that i like alot.

Default 3.5 RE Superflex

RE kit not full leaf ? $110/leaf = $220 RE full leafs Ebay

I got this 2 cents worth about going over 3" lifts

"boost on top of rear AAL add leafs may snap and fall on your axle, or best case they sag down after 9months, boost makes sag and breaks worst"

also longer shocks 3"-5" in that kit, opt for Nitrogen for another $50 set , which is next level above the cheap sets. People will say BILSTEIN for best ride, nobody seems to be sure what to say for 2nd best ride ??
gonna need bump stops if lift exceeds 3" or shock bottoms out seizes up smashes fenders.

Rancho front coils are too stiff, i read that often.
AAL take some labor hours and are weak vs full.

Or should I remove the spacers first? No matter the difference, would 31 x 10.5 BFG A/T's be a good choice?

New to the Jeeping community, and I already love my XJ .
Here is 4.5" with 35's with cut fenders and 4.5RE with Bushwacker flat flares & 4.5BDS with 33's & BW pocket flares

How attached to stock flares are ya ? Still like 31's ? 31's really ? because 31's are not cheap. Goodyear has $80 rebate Duratracs, etc
