Over the weekend I installed the Rubicon Express 3.5 Inch Super-Ride Short Arm Lift Kit with Rear Leaf Springs and Twin Tube Shocks on my 94 Cherokee Sport. Before it had a 2" budget kit that included degree shims for the rear axle (and the shocks and factory leafs were completely shot. All of this obviously came off. My Jeep LOOKS awesome - got WAY more lift than I'd anticipated. Problem is, the rear driveshaft appears to be at too much of an angle for the joint. I'm wondering whether degree shims will correct this issue, and, if so, what degree do I need? I'll be putting on 31" tires if that makes a difference.
Here's the kit I installed (it did not come with shims): https://www.4wd.com/Jeep-Lift-Kits-J...n=R%2fERE6025T
And hopefully my pic of what I'm talking about being the problem shows up. :-) Any help will be appreciated! Thanks!

While I'd LOVE to go with an SYE and double cardan driveshaft, I'm just looking for the right shim size to get me up and running for now. I can do the better stuff later when I have the time and money. I know the shims won't be long term. Just need a size - I don't trust myself measuring 3 angles and going through the formula. Anyone out there uset the RE 3.5 short arm I linked to earlier with 31" tires who can tell me what degree shim ought to do the trick?

I've completed my back, as mentioned earlier. Ive finally received my extended bump stops.
I'm not trying to rush through this project in one day but I don't want to rent the spring compressors twice. That is something I'd like to get done in one shot. Is there anything wrong with taking both sides apart at the same time so I can replace the springs at the same time?

Are you just doing springs an shocks or are you doing control arms too? If you're just doing coils and springs you'd probably be fine, I don't really see the point tho in doing both at the same time as long as you use a McPherson strut compressor and not a ****ty car one like I had to ( all advance auto had) the front is a joke compared to the rear.
The original intent was only shocks, springs/bump stops, and track bar.
I went ahead and took just that stuff apart last night. My sway bar links decided they'd had enough. Both snapped off at the top connection, so now I'm replacing them too. Its an 88, I'm not surprised.
I disconnected the track bar hoping that I can install the adjustable one without having to pull the front axle back into place. I've based the measurements on the experiences I've seen others have on you tube.

3" Rough Country Full Packs
http://www.roughcountry.com/jeep_xj_3.html
Purchased from Grimus99XJ
I really liked the affordability of this lift. I will not break the bank and when you buy a 3 in lift kit that is what you get. The shocks leave a lot to be desired so if you have the bank roll buy an upgrade. As far as ride a lot of people say it is Rough, my thoughts are I drive a Jeep I want to feel the bumps so I think the ride is fine.
Everyone tends to ask about my Shackles they run about 100 bucks and are great for recovery you can get them here.

Could the 31"s add to this as well? Could they actually add another 1.5" worth of lift to the frame?

Another I used to help figuring my driveline angles...
And I have the same lift (+RE monotubes, and RE trackbar). And no, I can not give you your angles or what size shims you need. As someone mentioned, each rig is different as is their lift's rate of settle.
I was going to shim the rear axle but decided to just put that cost towards the SYE budget. Problem is, I have to budget for 2 (XJ and TJ). Was ready to make the purchases last month, but several unexpected expenses came up that completely depleted the budget...becoming the norm lately.
Good luck.
