I can't find an answer for this question anywhere. I had a stock 99 XJ with stock tires and wheels (225/75/15). Installed some Goodyear Wrangler Duratrac tires in 235/75/15 mounted on 8x15 ATX Ledge wheels. This caused quite a bit of rubbing at full lock and knocked the rear fender flares off. I installed a Teraflex 2'' budget boost to counteract all of that and there's no more rubbing and my flares haven't been knocked off yet.
So, my question is about snow tires. Before I did the lift I had 225/75/15 Firestone Winterforce tires on. Now with the lift, they look pretty goofy but still have tread so I'm using them until they're cashed. I'm wondering what a good tire size would be for my next set of snow tires. I was originally going to put on the same size as my Duratracs, 235/75/15. Then I got to thinking, I don't do any wheeling in the winter other than through snow and to commute to work. Since I don't need a bunch of extra room for tire travel, could I go bigger?
The teraflex site says my boost will work with up to a 30'' tire. I'm hoping to get something as tall as possible without rubbing and something skinny since it's a winter tire. Not a huge deal, just want to make sure I buy the correct size with my lift. So again, question is should I stick with off road tire logic and do the 235's or can I put on something a little bigger since I'll just be driving through snow and not flexing the suspension much.
Thanks everyone!!!

Also Duratracs are Peak Snow rated winter tires. I wouldn't bother putting any other shoes on the XJ unless you are buying ice-specific tires like Michelin X-Ice.

2" actual lift is fine for 30s, however remember you don't have 2" lift over stock - you boosted up sagging springs. You might be .5" - 1" over stock, accounting for sag. The only way to know is to measure how much clearance you have. 235/75R15 works out to be about 29".

So what collapsed/extended length shocks should i be shooting for with 3'' of lift? The ones im looking at for the front are 15.17'' collapsed and 25.07'' extended for 3'' spec. I wanna make sure the shocks will have plenty of down travel so would i be better off with the ones for 4.5'' with 15.39" collapsed and 26.29" extended?
Just wanna get all the stupid questions out of the way before i buy all my parts 2mro

Not particularly. Short arms have a working range. The size lift makes no difference in the front. If you switch to long arms or drop brackets then it changes.
Rear springs can change with lift. Depending on how much of a lift.

not even if i have adjustables? But i figured now ill just slap on a cheap set and save my pennys for blistiens and then take all the proper measurements.
