Get the 3.5" leafs and a set of boomerang shackles.

What is the advantage of boomerang shackles vs the standard RE 1" lift shackle? Is it just for clearance issues with the spring pocket? I'm doing a 4.5" and already have RE 3.5 leafs and straight shackles sitting in the shop waiting to be installed as soon as I finish collecting the rest of the lift. But I keep seeing that everyone is running boomerangs just wondering if I'm missing something.

You got it. It allows the shackle to travel farther backward before contact

Well poop..... That sucks guess I should have researched a lil more before buying straight shackles. You know how much of an issue this will be? Should I give them a shot, or go ahead and sell them at a loss and buy some boomerangs?

Give them a shot and see if it works for you. Most people don't really mind it. Boomerangs just recently got popular with the Cherokee crowd

What clown says is true. Was more popular with YJs. I ran extended shackles first and had great rear flex but had more axle wrap. I run boomerang shackles now and the ride feels more stiff and I feel the rear doesn't flex as much but I never ran full head to head comparisons, just eye sight tests

Yeah, I thought about the budget. That's why I was asking. I don't plan on buying gigundo tires and a huge lift. Im thinkin max will be 3.5" and that's a year or 2 away.

I run 31s of the dick cepek mud country's, I like them a lot. They work great in the mud, very well in the snow, on road they're not that loud, & road wear, rite now they are about half tread. I don't know the the exact mile I've put on them but rough estimate I would say 5000+ (that is mostly highway mile at traveling speeds between 60-80) I'm looking at getting the km2s next summer, size 33×10.50. Also wondering how do the km2s run & would they be a good buy? My XJ is my dd but planning on getting more off road next summer.

More range is better, especially when lifted.
Ok, thank you. That was very helpful.

Cool deal. Guess I'll go ahead and give them a shot. I' hoping to do my lift in the spring. I got kiddos so the fat man in the red suit is putting my steering and bilsteins on hold till after the new year.

Thanks for the input guys.

I'm finally starting to piece together my lift components. I've decided to go with RE 3.5" stuff mostly. strongly considering going the bastard pack route for the leafs. everything that I've read says that if I use the main xj leaf with all the S10 ones it will get me about 3.5 in the rear.
any thoughts/comments/suggestions?

I would go with the RE 3.5 full leafs, i have the RE 3.5 Super ride kit with full leafs and the leafs gave me 4.5" and coils gave me 4"

I've really thought about those too. Cost is the main factor for the bastard pack leanings, though. How's the ride with those?
Did you have to make mods for the driveline/tcase at that height? Or anything else?
