Hey Guys, I just bought some Daystar 1" lift shackles from 4WD for what I thought was a good deal so I guess I scooped them up with out a whole lot of research. I was surprised to see that they are 6" long center to center on the bolt holes and one has a broken grease fitting which I can fix still pizzes me off. My question I guess is what have you guys gotten for lift out of a 6" shackle?

I think stock is 4", so a 6" schackle would give 1" lift if you have a 45° shackle angle

Yeah I know thats the general school of thought but I'm still running stock shackle boxes. I dont have the dreaded strait up 90* shackle angle but its not going to be anywhere near 45* ether. I only have a .75 coil spacer coming for the front and I really dont want to be that guy with the massive raked XJ

Why do u think you need a SYE? Need more info before we diagnos your problem. What does it sound and feel like? I think with 2.5" of lift you may not need a SYE. If you are getting vibrations chances are you may be suffering from... bad u joint, out of balance drive shaft, improper drive shaft angles or out of balence tire. Have u called under your ok and checked out your driveline?

You'll probably be fine, if you're on stock leaves they're probably sagging anyway.

After all everyone thought that simple bolt on tire carrier rear bumpers were great until their uniframe cracked from the added leverage and lack of proper reinforcement. Then get on facebook and look them up. He has built stuff for KOH and other SRRS and U4 cars, his fab work is excellent. To my knowledge, I don't know of anyone having a single complaint with any of his products. And yes I know Andy.

Default SYE/pinion angle

OK, I’ve searched the sticky’s, etc…I can’t seem to find an entry that covers the entire sye process. By this I mean, not only the mechanical installation of the yoke, etc, but associated adjustment of pinion angle. Are adding shims or relocating spring perches not usually necessary (3.5“ lift/31’s)? Seems like insuring the pinion is 2* below diff output axis is important, but most install guidance ends at sye install. Seems like going from parallel config (pinion axis angle vs. diff output axis angle – conventional ds) to sloping the pinion axis angle to point directly at diff output (cv config) would require a significant adjustment to the rear diff angle. Or is it not that significant. Just want to do it correct the 1st time…

I have a 3" Skyjacker leaf pack in the rear and I really only wanted 1". My plan B might be to drill new holes are there is plenty of room. Plan C will be HD's no lift brackets.

1"on top of another lift is a little different. There's a lot involved. Yes, get relocation brackets, and if the height of your lift is extremely important, adjustable shackles.

Default OME 2.5 kit

So, I am looking at an OME kit. Just want about 2.5" so I can run 30's. Basically a mall crawler, with a few trips on the beach each year. Some people are telling me just to buy the springs, coils and shocks, " a la carte", and others are telling me I need the adjustable track bar, sway bar disconnects, bump stops, etc. I don't want to spend $1600 on a kit if I don't have too. Any suggestions? Thanks in Advance!

Default driveline vibration

I just put a 3.5" rubicon express lift on my 96' xj sport. I am getting a load of vibration from my rear end and am sure I need to shim it. I have been just about everywhere trying to figure out what degree of Steel shim to use but cant seem to get any specific answer. I figure I will need a transfer case drop kit and shims, can anyone help with what degree of shim I should use or atleast what degree to start with? this is not a wheeler, I have a 85 CJ7 for that, I just want to use it for banging around the hills and hunt'n in BUT I do want it done right. help?
