1st post. I have a 2000 XJ and just lucked into a set of new 31"10.50 x 15" MTR's on jeep Ravine wheels. This is my DD and wanted to know if a 3" lift will clear fender flares? Do I need to go 3.5" or 4"? Some off road trails. I looking at the OME and RC... big price difference but willing to spend more $ for the quality of product and ride.

3" RC works just fine for 31's I think the basic 3 is like 249 or something close to that, and it will clear them fine within trimming needed...

Hey XJmotard,

After all the brain storming about a 2" lift I am thinking about selling the Sport now. I saw a kick butt Grand Cherokee that looked pretty sweet and I am like...hmmm.

Not sure what to do. Mine needs some minor work but I only paid $3000 for it. I could probably make money on it. If I dump money into it I probably won't get it back.

Dam man that sucks...but ya know ya just gotta do what ya gotta do...ya know if u find something that has a lot done to it already, and u get all antsie cause urs isn't as done like it...u just need to step back and think of all the options...is it worth what their asking...what's the history if this piece...and the big one that moat people face these days...can I afford it, weather it be the new loan, or the dent in ur savings account.

So with that being said, don't just do cause its got more done to it, and its " just so sweet looking"! And the "its everything I've ever wanted!" Lol....patience is a virtue...but also if ur gonna end up spending a lot fixing urs, and u would be better off selling it and still saving money buying this zj...then by all means do what's best, and works.....lol....sorry didn't mean to give ya a whole speech lol

Well the minor work I can do myself. It's just a few little things. The biggest being the a/c. The compressor is still good. I just need to pull a vacum and re-charge.

My biggest struggle is the lift. I was just doing a 2" to tie me over til I could afford a 3-4 inch lift and new wheels and tires. That is a pretty good expense and not sure I would get the money back out of it. If I do that then I might as well keep it, right?

Haha I hear ya man....ya gotta figure well this is how I look at mine...yea a lift may be a little pricey...but if u keep it...it gets paid off if it ain't already...that's that its urs...u can hack fenders, cut this weld that...whatever, and it its something u can keeeeep for a looonh time...jeep parts honestly are not hard on the wallet at all...shoot u can get dam near a new engine...well not brand new, but in tens years when ur engine dies, u can just buy a new one, put it in and keep going...maybe its just me and my obsession with my jeep..but I will never get rid of mine ever just cause its an aweosme vehicle that I almost the entire ends and outs of....I can do whatever I want to it, without worrying about paying to have this or that fixed...but its just something u gotta air down and figure out....and trust me man there are a ton of people low on dough that can get all the sweet stuff they want as fast as they want...lol, me for one...but its something that u just gotta work with and be patient if u really want the outcome....

I paid cash for mine so I own it. Definitely not into car payments! What a huge waste of money. My XJ is in great shape. No body damage and the interior is super clean. Never been off road in it's life and only has 135k on the odometer. So that is definitely a plus. A few good reasons to keep it.

I do like the grand cherokee body style a little better but I will probably just keep what I got. At least I know where it has been and it is paid for. I will feel better about it when I get it looking like yours!

I know patience is a virtue I just have a hard time accepting it! If I put the money in it for a lift I will keep it for a long time. Actually I will probably pass it down to my 13 year old. He will be driving in a couple years. That will give me an excuse to buy another! haha

What shocks should I get for my 5.5" RE lift? My shocks now barely fit.
