What did you do when you wiggled it? Was it in gear or was it in neutral with the parking brake engaged? If it's in gear, there's tension on the shaft and you won't be able to wiggle it. It sounds like a u-joint went bad so put the transmission and transfer case in neutral and pull the ebrake or chock the wheels and try it again. I'll bet you'll discover play at that point.

Good point I did not have it in neutral. I will give that a try. Also when I put it in reverse or drive it feels like it punches into gear and the whole vehicle moves a little bit. Could this also be from a u joint or is that normal. I didn't notice it as much before the lift

Definitely signs of a U-Joint. I believe the rear axle-side u joint causes this, but I could be wrong.

Woohoo fun in the garage! Idk if I should just replace or scrap up my pennies and do an sye while I'm at it. I looked up a video how to do one and I don't think it is something I feel comfortable getting into my self. Does anybody know what it might cost to get it done at a good mechanics shop

Are there any axle shaft upgrades that are in between stock and the full on 4340 chrome moly steel? Or is it just one or the other...

For front: Upgraded U-joints (I went with Alloy USA X-joints) with full-circle clip or welded caps.
For rear: Unknown to me.

I came back to find the swaybar endlink on the driver side that started straight is now cocked, as you can see by the pictures. question..is this correct, I realize the swaybar must move but looks very wrong. It was pretty much straight up and down now has moved, compressing the bushings in an odd way. left pic is passenger side, right is drivers side, both were more upright with even compression prior to day at the beach. How do I fix?
Thanks for the help.
Is this going to happen each wheel trip?

Okay so I put it in neutral and tried moving the rear axle aroundnd again. The part at the axle seemed sold but the part coming out of the transfer case wiggled around a little. So what might I need to fix this. Also I was able to turn it back and forth about a quarter inch is that normal

Finished my 4.5" lift and went for a quick test drive. It seems like my front end is dropping to the right during acceleration. I put an adjustable track bar in and centered the axle already. Any ideas on the cause. I didn't do the SYE yet, could the stress on the axle cause this?

Here ya go man. This is one of the best informative channels on YouTube. This particular video will tell you how to properly check for u-joint wear and what tolerances to look for.

If your u-joints need replacing, he's got a few how-to videos on that too.

Well, I found a product number on my coil springs for my lift. Turns out, it's a Tuff Country EZ-Ride 3.5" kit w/ replacement leaf springs. http://www.tuffcountry.com/lift-kits/jeep/cherokee/

The guy that gave it to me included everything but the LCAs, the Transfer case drop brackets (no loss there - don't want 'em), and apparently the shims for the leaf springs... at least I don't recall seeing any on them.

This is a brand I'm not familiar with. Anyone ever run Tuff Country? I've search google for some reviews but couldn't find anyone with an XJ running them. Is it a good lift? Ride well? Gonna fall apart?
