Yep HD Engineering makes some good ones. I chose to go with Liquid Iron Industries, because of their simplicity and short angled design. They work really well with the JKS boomerang shackles.

You can drive without one, they are used to masked any issues in the steering until it's severe. I would recommend upgrading your steering in the near future.

Default New to lifts

Hi guys I am new to the forums. I am currently in the stages of planning my lift kit for my 98 cherokee. I want to go with the Rubicon Express 4.5 inch lift kit. I know I will need a SYE and drive shaft with this kit, is there anything else I need? like track bar drop brackets, brace, or the HD RE track bar upgrade? Like I said I am in the planning process so any input would be great. Also how much do you actually gain from the lift I've heard up to 5.5 or does it eventually settle to 4.5?

An adjustable trackbar is included with some of the kits.
A double shear trackbar, bracket and a brace are a very smart upgrade.

Track bar for sure. If you're going to do it, do it right. I'd also go with a brace and knock out the steering too. Get it all now so you don't have to mess with it later. Check out Rock Solid Off-Road, Ebay or Amazon for a track bar.

Just finished installing RE 4.5" coils with 3.5" RE leafs and a 1" RE shackle. I ended up with a net increase of 6" in the front and 6.25" in the rear. I figure after settling I should end up in the 5" ish range.
