I have read about these shields having to be pried out but do not have first hand experience with that part.
Do not hesitate to call the tech department of the manufacturer for immediate assistance.

No Chrysler used the transfer case and it was made by New Process Gear. I think they meant contact the SYE manufacture tech support, not the Tcase tech support.

Ah ok. That does sound more intelligent. Thanks. It's a snap ring...not much to say except ....get it off lol. Pain in the ***. This one has no holes in it, just the angled edges.

What a tech department has to offer is proper technique, procedure ,tools etc. They can save you lot of struggle and frustration. From my experience, IronRock Offroad has awsome tech support.
The ring in question is a c-clip rather than a typical snapring.
I suggest wiping down the case halves before opening, especially the top. Don't want that crud falling onto the internals.

Default r16's on a Cherokee

So I've got a set of 31s but they need 16" wheels.
Looking to get a set of these:
Amazon.com: Pro Comp Steel Wheels Series 98 Wheel with Gloss Black Finish (16x8"/5x4.5"): Automotive Amazon.com: Pro Comp Steel Wheels Series 98 Wheel with Gloss Black Finish (16x8"/5x4.5"): Automotive

The question is are there any forseable problems with running sixteen inch rims ? Will they rub on steering components or anything else?

Thanks guys! They are called Lock ring pliers. And my original center shaft did not have a single snap ring on it.

Looking to install some adj. Upper control arms. I'm sitting at around 4.5" of lift and have a set of rough country adj. LCA's, there okay for now but I want to spring for a better set of uppers. I'm trying to decide between RE or metalcloak aluminums. Has anyone installed the metalcloak? How did they work out? Also, is a control arm drop bracket worth looking at for a smoother ride?

So I am pretty sure that I have at least one bad control arm bushing, but think it may be more than one Full on aftermarket adjustable control arms are way out of my price range right now, being unemployed does that to build budgets, so what way would you go, OEM rubber replacement bushings, or polyurethane replacement bushings?

Being unemployed right now I have lots of time between job search days to do the work myself

Good enough for me, and actually what I was hoping to hear because 8 rubber bushings are considerably cheaper than the poly ones

I will get them ordered early next week so I can get them in ASAP. I still want adjustable CAs but that wont happen till I find a new job

Being out of work I have more time than I want. I also have access to some tools that will make the job go easier, like a BFH for when I get angry and the even more useful hydraulic shop press to keep me from getting angry

I think the big kicker for me will be getting the bolts out, I will have replacements on hand and use them even if I don't have to break the old ones.

Hey guys this might be a stupid question and I already posted it in my build thread also but just thought I would get more opinions. Are 3 ton jack stands enough to do a 4.5 inch RE lift? or should I go ahead and buy the 6 ton?
