Drove it a few miles home, maybe barely pulls to the right but basically drives fine. I need to torque everything up, but happy with the lift. Instructions could have been a bit more detailed.

A full size truck will most likely have stiffer springs to cope with the heavy loads they are designed to handle. The s10 is a good donor because the springs are mounted under the axle, so there's a lot of arch, and it's a light duty vehicle so the spring rate is lower resulting in a smoother ride. They are also 2.5" wide. The spring width is important just so the stack of springs can be clamped together safely.
I see, yeah makes total sense honestly. Okay well I'll keep looking for s10 ones. Does it matter on what years for the s10 packs?

Does anybody else vouch for Rusty's as a good starter kit? It seems like there is one very enthusiastic fan of theirs on the site, but I don't hear much from anyone else.

I have the Rusty's 3'' HD coil springs and I like them. Didn't notice any sag from the weight of a winch/ bumper.

I don't trust Rusty. Most of his parts are fine, but I've seen his attitude and the way he has reacted to defective parts in the past. I won't buy anything from him.

What would you recommend in that price range?

Take a look at Zone Offroad, Iron Rock Offroad, and Rubicon Express

I just installed Rusty's 3" advanced kit with adjustable upper and lower control arms with "forged flex" ends. Seems to be their version of Curry's "Johnny Joint". The control arms seem very well made. I'm happy with the overall quality of the parts. I believe the install instructions could be much better. I haven't had to return anything, so I have no experience with their return policy. When I ordered this kit I also wanted the SYE/driveshaft, but Rusty himself got on the line and said it's completely unnecessary and that a TC drop kit would be all I need. Basically turning away an additional $500 sale. I appreciate that, but got the SYE/driveshaft anyway, still yet to be installed. Ive been driving for a full day on the kit, which I installed singlehandedly, the first lift kit I've ever done myself, and the car is tracking, driving very nicely. I haven't even put in the TC drop kit and notice no vibrations. I will have my mechanic install the SYE/driveshaft and until then won't go offroad. Overall I'm a happy camper.

Makes me worry more. He recommended a product that was cheaper and not a good solution to a driveline vibration issue. TC drops put more stress on your motor mounts, rob ground clearance, and only cover up the real issue of the vibration.

Worry about whatever you like. The parts are high quality. It bothers me not that Rusty didn't try to sell me something he seems to honestly believe I don't need. He knows more about this than I, as do most of the folks on this forum. We get to use our best judgement based on the information we recieve. Bottom line is, I haven't even installed the TC drop kit and I'm not experiencing any issues. I'm very happy with the kit.

I just remeasured. I must have been fatigued. They measure as stock.

Ok, so new to the XJ, have a 2001 that I would like to run max of 31" tire on. I have seen Rough Country 3" lift kit, and it says yes 31".
.
Will I need any added items for brake lines, or steering?
.
I prefer to not lower the transfer, and assume after reading here (links from here) that I can use an SYE to keep transfer up and eliminate any binding or vibration.
.
Input welcomed, ty, Charlie.

My 3" kit, though from a different manufacturer came with extended srainless brake lines. Along with the SYE/driveshaft, I believe an adjustable track bar is recommended. Enjoy lifting!

Who sells that kit? I prefer a one stop kit. I guess after 22yrs in the Army when I read "nothing else required" I naturally infer I won't have to opt for a brake line, and SYE, or anything else. Thanks.
