Go with the boomerangs. I have the exact lift you are putting together and wish I wouldn't have went with the straight. Had to cut my bumper bolts off for daily driving. Also get a good shackle smack on the box when twisting up the Heep on trails.

It's weird only one side is doing it. Only thing I can think of is spring shift from flexing. I have over 20k miles on this lift. I urban wheel almost daily and hit a couple moderate trails at least 3-4 times a month. She has been flexed to the max a lot.

yeah, mine does it from normal driving. It's only the drivers side on mine that does it. I mean I've never even flexed it at all All Lift & Tire questions go here!!!-image-3076398993.jpg

what do you mean by that? The plastic liner thing still in? I do have my plastic liner still. My tires stick out just a little too much to tuck them inside the wheel wells so I bumpstopped so I don't knock my fender flares off.

I have a rustys 3 inch lift that I put on this summer... For some reason my passenger side front is between .25 or .5 inch higher then the front driver side... I am going to put .75 spacers in the front... Do you have an idea why one side in the front would be higher?

You're not missing a spring isolator, are you?

Hahahahaha, nice! I love riding washed out trails and twisting mine up on the ruts. Next time I go I'll have to get some pose shots. I usually wheel alone, and don't have a co-pilot to get out and document the "Hey watch this ****!" Moments.

I rode gulches without a co pilot so that's the only picture I have from the day.

Default Help selecting a lift kit

Hello! I am new to XJs and new to the forum. I have a 1998 XJ with 200k + miles on it. It seems to have an old R/C lift, about 3" that I am assuming is toast.

Its going in the shop this week for a total refurb (new floor pans, fixing and stiffening frame rails, paint, and a laundry list of minor fixes. It will be pretty fresh and new when done (even new carpets and headliners!!!)

I need some help picking a 4.5" lift kit. I am down to R/C and Zone. I have read a lot about them and their comparisons but most of the posts are really old. I know that there have been improvements in recent years and would like to hear about experience with recent equipment. Here is some info about my uses and needs:
- this is going to be my daily driver
- I am putting 285/75r16s A/Ts on it (also has bushwacker cut out flares)
- I am adding a lot of extra weight to the rig. Winch bumper in front - tire carrier in the rear - rock sliders in the middle....
- I don't do anything extreme off-road. I drive through some mud and deep-ish ruts on the way to my hunting spots.
- I know lift and tires are more than I need - but hey, why not!

My most important concerns are:
- making sure its safe and has great road manners
- making sure that its done right the first time and I dont have endless maintenance issues.

I am down to choosing between R/C and Zone kits that have full leaf packs. Any thoughts and recent experiences would be very much appreciated!

Piece together a lift that way you get exactly what you want. RC springs suck, although I do like their long arm upgrade kit. I'm running RE springs with RC Long arms and have no complaints. I have over 20k miles of daily driving and moderate off-road abuse on my set up and have yet to have a problem. Just my Lincolns

Thanks for your two Lincolns! I have seen a lot of good advice about piecing my own together. Unfortunately I am lacking the knowledge to do so. I do have RE springs and coils in my Amazon shopping cart right now. No idea what else to pair with it.

I think for this build I might be best served going with a kit that I have some level of confidence that that I have everything I need not to rip up my running gear. I am also hoping to be done at about $800 (for parts).

I will take your advice in the future when I actually know WTH I am doing.

Thanks much!

Keep in mind most kits don't include everything that they should. It's marketing. More people will buy an incomplete kit because it's cheaper than one that's properly packaged.
