I have a guy (local to me) with a 2.5" lift for a 2001 WJ. His add lists it as a suspension for a Cherokee, so if course I called to check if he meant a WJ or XJ.
He told me its for a WJ, but INSISTS that it will fit my 01' XJ no problem.
It'll bolt right up and I'll just net 3"-3.5" instead of 2.5". I've never heard this, but I'm new-ish to XJs. When I mentioned that I never heard about the suspensions being direct bolt ups (I heard that I can do a bastard pack with them) He gave me one of the "Oh absolutely, I've done it tons of time, I just never got around to installing this one in MY cherokee because....." lines.
I've been searching this forum on and off for the past few days (mostly the "Budget Build" sticky) to try and confirm what he said...but I haven't been able to.
I'm thinking that I can't conform because the guy doesn't know what he's talking about (or he doesn't mind screwing someone over to make a quick buck).
So, basically can I install WJ leaf springs and coils (and shocks) in a 2001 XJ without any modifications to either?

If you're on a budget, get some cheap coils for the front, and build a bastard pack for the rear. Do it yourself so you know what its made out of. I wouldn't count on anything that guy sells you.

Hey there brain trust. Current rolling 33"s on stock 3.55 gears. Surprisingly, drive OK... but not great obviously.
Doing gears soon, thinking 4.10s should get me back in the butter zone. Not going any bigger, sticking with 33" for good. So 4.10 sound about right?
And yes I know this would be a good time for lockers, etc. Planning on keeping the front open, (very)slowly building an LSD 8.8 that will eventually end up under the back of the XJ. But gears need to be done soon. She's my daily, and I know I'm straining the trans, engine, spiders, etc running it as is.

Thanks guys, that's exactly what I'm looking for, somewhat stock acceleration characteristics, especially driving at Hwy speed. Looks like 4.56 it is.
