i received by mail one of the two leaf springs I ordered. it didn't come in a box and upon further inspection, the clamps are slightly bent (and paint chipped off one side, probably because they dropped it or something similar). it's tight and nothing is loose, so i'm pretty sure it's not that big of a deal, but I'm just wondering if I should try to hammer it back into place so one side doesn't contact the springs (or they need to be against the springs? i don't know), or if I can leave it like that without any issues? thanks!

Nah, don't worry about it. They are there to keep the leafs in line so they don't spin out and dig into your tires or whatever else they could possibly come in contact with. Just slap some paint on the exposed metal if you feel like it.

Do I need wheel spacers after I install my rc 3" lift? I'll be running stock wheels for now but am getting 31's. Maybe it depends on the rim I buy?? Also I was told I don't need extended brake lines but I saw someone said they had to on the 3" lift. I ordered the full leaf packs and I also ordered the adjustable track bar. Should I need anything else?

Wheel spacers aren't necessary and aren't necessarily related to lifting the vehicle. Even at stock height, with stock wheels, 31s can rub the control arms... lifting it may still result in slight rubbing. HOWEVER - seeing as you are planning on getting aftermarket wheels in the future, you can run your steering stops out a little bit and it will curtail the rubbing for now -OR- you can just leave it alone. The only thing it's really "hurting" is that it will rub the lugs on the shoulders and make them wear a little quicker... or just don't turn as tightly.

In any case, I wouldn't worry about wheel spacers unless you were in love with your factory wheels.

Default Do I need a leveling kit?

Hi, I Have a 99 XJ. All the kits seem to "level" the vehicle but I measure exactly the same from just ahead of the rear wheel to the ground and from just behind the front wheel to the ground. The kits seem to raise the front 3" and the back 1.5 inches. That will leave me lower in the back. Why.

Thanks for any help on this.

A leveling kit would've helped when the Jeep was new, but the leaf springs are at the end of their useful life in most Cherokees. The newest models are 15 years old, and the thin rear leafs don't age as well as the front coil springs.

Ah...OK, Makes sense, thanks. So I need a lift that includes new rear springs rather than an add-a-leaf.

Now we go shopping

You don't NEED full leaf packs, but it is definitely advised. If you have old saggy springs, an add a leaf will only do so much for a short period of time. Please stay away from RC. Zone, Rubicon Express, IRO, Old Man Emu, are all good companies to go with.

LOL! I have not. I took the slew of advise and bought full leaf packs. I was being more facetious than anything.
