If you're looking to be at 4.5" with leafs, relocation brackets, and longer shackles, you'll want a smaller lift leaf spring if you're going with the standard HD shackle relocations. Those add some lift as well, so maybe like a 3 or 3.5" leaf spring, relocation brackets and maybe like 1" lift shackles.
Thanks for the help.
Good point, appreciate the help. Ill probably weld some up, im sure I have enough drops/scrap to make some.

New here I just bought a 96 XJ and am looking for a good 6.5" short arm lift. unfortunately this being my first JEEP I'm still a noob and learning. some kits I have found online look more complete then others.
can anyone point me in a direction of what site will sell me the kit complete.
I know going that high will need a slip yoke eliminator and driveshaft. my budget is 2,500-3k.

Also going to need an upgraded steering system and re-gearing of axles.
Here are two companies to get you started. Will need more money too.

Going to go for the Zone 3" kit - http://zoneoffroad.com/zone-offroad-...erokee/j21-j22
Anyone know why it doesn't come with control arms or sway bar brackets like the Rough Country 3"?

Can I use the stock control arms with the Zone kit? Should I?

Different companies always have variances in their package deals. Zone is a product of BDS, a very high quality company and while I don't have personal experience with either, with rough country theres plenty of general complaints. I think mostly a harsh ride and spring length issues. BUT, RC has also made some changes to their designs so newer stuff might be just fine. FWIW, I'd go with zone.
Any opinion on LCAs? RC sells them standalone, could just add to my Zone 3" kit: http://www.roughcountry.com/jeep-fix...arms-1071.html

If $2500-3,000 is your total for going to a 6 1/2" lift you better wait a lot longer. You will have more money than that in all the other items needed not including the lift, it's the cheapest part. You will have more than that invested in tires/wheels/gears/lockers.
haha, sorry, had a few pages open.. RE LCA's
i'm wondering what the reason is for doing LCAs at all with a 3 inch lift from Zone.

To fully get all angles correct so you have a nice ride. Without longer lower control arms when you lift, your wheels may not be centered.
It can help center the axle in the fender well. Two major benefits of front LCA's is that it will provide proper caster after the lift. Makes a huge difference in handling. Also when off-road the front end is under a lot of stress. The upgraded arms are much stronger and usually flex better.
