I apologize if this question has already been answered, but I wanted to find out the for my specific situation. I have a 2000 XJ with a 3 inch Rough Country short arm lift, trimmed fenders, and currently 31 inch Cooper Discoverer tires on stock 15 inch wheels. I am looking to move to 33s and was wondering what kind of bumpstops you guys would recommend? With my 31s I get slight rub on the lower control arms and inner fender well when the steering is fully maxed out. I realize that the amount of flex that I will be able to attain will be less than I have now, but I am going to 33s in preparation for installing a bigger lift in the future. I also am wondering what kind of backspacing would be necessary for 33s, or would stock wheels work? Here is a picture of it about a month ago. Since then, I have trimmed about 1 inch more off of the front fenders. As you can probably see, the rear fenders are also trimmed and rolled.

yeah knew that, just meant that these bar pins seem to go all the way around and form a circle rather than an open fork on either end.
either way will be installing BPEs up here too
Yup. They're still barpins. Previous owner may have just replaced them. They come both ways. Some shocks will actually come with replacement bar pins.

Best way to determine that is to measure. However, I have a 3.5" lift and 32" tires and I'm running 3" bumpstop extensions that mount to the spring pads on the axle. Leaves me with about an inch or so clearance from the tire to the fender... so you'd probably be good with a 3". As far as the rubbing on your LCAs, that's happening because you're still using the stock wheels. Get a set of wheels with 3.75-4" backspacing and your rubbing shouldn't happen anymore.
Looking at them now, they're probably more like 3.5-4" extensions... but you get the idea.
As for the rear goes, I have no bumpstops at all and believe it or not, the tires do not rub. They probably will once I upgrade to 33's though.

Thank you Basslicks for the input! That 4 inch backspacing seems to be right about where most people are telling me. I just keep trying to get as much input as possible before ordering, since I am ordering online and don't want to deal with shipping them back if they are wrong. I run a 8" wheel with 3.75" of BS on it with my 33 and 35's both at current height of 4 1/2". At 3" of lift I ran the same wheel with the 33x12:50x15 tire, 2" bump stop in the front none in rear.
With the extra 1 1/2" of lift was able to clear the 35's when I did it for off road use only. Here is the amount of trim I had to do with the 3" and 33's.

Look into hockey puck bumpstops as well. You can drill and tap your spring seats, then drill out and stack as many pucks as needed with a bolt through the center.

How are you liking those Gladiator QR900 tires? Customers seem to be pretty happy with them.
Quick leaf question. Which set-up would better match RE 5.5" front coils.
4.5" RE leafs + Shackles (+1") + HDO relocation brackets. (.75"-1.25" depending on angle)
OR
3.5" RE leafs + Shackles (+1") + HDO Relocation brackets. (.75-1.25" depending on angle)
Just trying to figure out what would be better performance wise and making the lift level.
Tough to say. If you went 4.5" leafs, you could always put small coil spacers up front to level it out if the rears too high, and if you went 3.5" leafs, you could just get longer shackles if the rear sits too low.
How are you liking those Gladiator QR900 tires? Customers seem to be pretty happy with them.
I have been very happy with them and the cost was the most reasonable of all I liked $585 for the (5) of them mounted and balanced.
They do well off road at around 10-12 psi, highway 28 psi and not to loud the sidewalls do very well when aired down. Friend tire company was the supplier to my local dealer both are here where I live.
Ok here is where I'm at. Almost 2 yearsc ago I needed adjustable control arms and a trackbar so I bought from rough country not knowing anything. They were both absolute crap. So I wouldn't even consider those components as part of this kit. Same goes for their brake lines.
You also need an sye and new rear driveshaft. It states this an the product page as well. You can't go with a transfer case drop at a lift that high.
Overall, I think you would be wasting money on this kit. I much rather preferror the rustys 4.5 inch advanced kit instead
