how can i tell if i have a lift??
Hey everyone, I just bought an 88 Cherokee Chief and the guy i bought it from didn't know to much about the vehicle and couldn't tell me if there was a lift on it. I was just wondering if there was somthing specific to look for or if i could measure the spings or something? it sits on 30x9.5 BFG All-terrain A/T's and it looks like i could put a bigger tire underneath it. Any help would be greatly appreciated before I go and buy a lift i dont need
Thanks again,
Tony

meaure the distance between the top of the axle and the bottom of the framerail.
im pretty sure stock, the front is at 6.5" and the back is at 6"
but, most aftermarket springs and leafs with have a part number on them somewhere (example. ROP 650)

BDS Lifts??
OK, I searched, searched again, and searched this particular thread and found nothing on BDS lifts. Are they good? Great? Overpriced crap??

I have stock 16" Icons on my 2000 Limited. What is the largest size I can go with minimal rubbing and no lift? I think I have been seeing 235/75/16 or a 30" of some sort?

i have an 89 xj that i traded for. When i got the jeep it had a rough country 3" sping/add-a-leaf lift on it, which was nice for a min. I got a 2" puck and schackle kit so i could clear 33" tires. I drove the jeep for a few weeks with the lift and 31" tires no problems...I put the 33 12.50s on there and now i get a VERY VIOLENT shake in the front end. The guy i bought the jeep from had replaced the the control arms with new used ones off a jeep that had been roled with 27,000 miles so they should be good. I was wanting to know if there is any way the tires could cause this problem, the tire shop said they had no problems mounting them. My other ? is for the lift guys, I had read and been told that as long as you stay under 6" of lift you shouldn't have to get ajustable ca's...is this true becuase my axle is moved back about a half inch...could this be the cause of my shake...also if i do need longer ca's(which clearly i do) do i need both upper and lower or just one or the other.
thanks moperman88
