In that case, if i go with those leafs, and use the shackles that are already on the jeep that came with the rc lift. How much of a lift are thr shackles alone? I see the rc lift which claims 4.5" comes with a aal and shackles. But i cant find an answer on how much each part lifts the rear
As for the front. Can i safely add a coil spring spacer with the rc 4.5 coils to match the new hight of the rubicon express leafs?

To answer your question, yes you could put coil spacers up front to level things out IF the new leafs lift the rear too much. Remember, that leaf springs (even quality ones) will settle a little bit.
Like Clown said, I'd at least flirt with the idea of shackle relocation brackets. Better angles, better flex, and better ride. You could even go with like a 3 or 3.5" leaf spring since the relocation brackets add lift, plus you'll want longer shackles too. Let the research begin!

Hey folks, New to the forum. Picked up a 91 2 door XJ from a good friend before he left for Basic. I took some measurements from the center of the wheels to the fenders and I'm at 19.35 Front, 20.15 rear. So I assume someone lifted it before he got it( he didn't have it long). I don't see coil spacers up front so I assume they went with longer coils. No shackles or blocks in the rear, so I assume they went with add a leafs. Heres my ?. I'd like another 2" all around.... Can I use shackles in the rear and spacers if front? Just run longer shocks and maybe a T Case drop? It would be nice to salvage and use what's there and not have to drop the coin on a 4.5" or 5" lift. Ideas or suggestions?

What's under there now sounds like it could be a 3" lift with full leaf packs. Maybe one that's a little bit worn out though. Considering the rear sits a tad higher than the front, I doubt it was an AAL. Are the lower control arms stock or aftermarket? Any labels on the shocks?

Yes, you could just add coil spacers and shackles for another 2". However, going from about 3" to 5" requires more than just spacers, and especially at 5" you want a SYE not a tcase drop.

No, I don't lick fish.
hello everyone. I recently bought a set of brand new pro comp 10 x 15, 5 x 4.75 (the box was labeled 5 x 4.5) from craigslist. I guess I should have not trusted the box, anyway I have a nice set of rims that dont quite fit my jeep. A while back i researched adapters and would rather not go that route but was wondering if i could buy 5 x 4.75 wheel bearings for my jeep as the fronts could use replaced anyway. anyone have a thought?
You might be able to find a machine shop that can drill them to the correct pattern AND dimple the stud holes so the nuts will seat correctly, but by the time you do that, you'll have probably bought another set of wheels.
Kinda sucks, but you're really just better off selling those on CL (advertised with the CORRECT BCP) and finding yourself another set.
Leaf spring lift
new to lifts and this forum.
I had a 2 inch lift done. Now i sit 19 1/2 front and 18 1/2 in rear. Found out that they say stock height is 17 1/2 front and 17 in rear.
The lift was a bb with hats in front and shackles in back. The ride i have is good no vibes etc.
I feel i could use some new leaf springs in the rear because i do tow a trailer once in awhile.
Question is if I get New Heavy Duty leafs would it lift me a little ( say 1/2 to 1 inch?) compared to standard leaf springs?
I know it is not much but i do want new leafs and if it picked it up it would be a bonus.
Now my other question is do shackles lower the life of a leaf spring?
Or should i get a .75 shackle lift found at rustys and a 2" lift leaf spring instead? might that mess up my angle and cause vibe?

New here ..... Tires please
Hello I am new here and a new owner of w 2000 Cherokee Sport. It has a 2" budget lift and 15" wheels. I want to put the tallest yet not that wide of a tire on it ( not going off road or fast cornering ).So , how tall can I go ?
Thanks
Oh , I was thinking a 295/15 or taller if I can

Welcome to Cherokee Forum
Extended shackles don't lower the life of a leaf spring, they don't really change how they work. They just change the pivot point. Sometimes they can actually ride harsher since the resultant angle may be steeper, but with sagging springs like you have in, it's probably a lot better than before.
2" lift springs are fairly hard to find unless you look at options like Old Man Emu by ARB. They're pricey but offer a fantastic ride - they're intended for banging across the Outback on safari.
Heavy Duty springs would indeed be what you're looking for. Crown makes a set that's a higher spring rate than OE - so it'll sit a little taller but ride a little harsher as well. You might even wind up with adjustable shackles so you can dial in the height of your ride. Another option entirely is OE-height springs with shackle relocation boxes and new shackles. Then you keep the softer ride.
Just avoid gimmicks like Add A Leaf (which wear out FAST) and blocks. They're not good investments on these vehicles.
Metric tire sizes are expressed as (Section Width)/(Aspect Radio)R(Rim Diameter). The most popular OE tires on the 2000 were 225/75R15 (225mm wide, 75% of that in sidewall height, fitted to a 15" rim). They're roughly 28" total diameter, some variance between brands and models. 235/75R15 come around 29" and will fit on stock height XJs. Upsizing from that, most popular is 30x9.5R15, which fits nicely on a 2" lift.

I'm glad I decided to order food before I replied to those. Didn't know you were answering them at the same time.

Can I install shocks before I install a springs??
My Jeep desperately needs new shocks, but I'd rather not spend the money on OEM parts and labor if I'm just gonna lift it in a month or two. So is it possible to buy and install just the shocks meant for a lift kit, and keep the stock ride height for a while?

How about just getting some cheap monroes or something to get you by? Then sell them afterward. I think you can get a full set for like $40 or $50.
Would this still be the case if I'm only thinking of going with a 2in. lift? Specifically the OME one
