We'll today as I was cutting out the rust notice my leaf shackles are rusted so bad that half an inch or wider chunks are scaling off my problem is the lift was on it when I got I know it's skyjacker from shocks and and looking at other parts of it best I can tell it was installed in 2003 or 2004 when it was rebuilt. It appears to be 3.5 or 4 inch lift comparing it to buddy's xj with 6 inch lift. So what length shackle do I need the back lift is from blocks and add a leaf I think.
Any help would be very much appreciated thanks a head of time for the help and sorry if I'm in wrong section for this.

Front to back, the portion in wheelwell from frame-bushing to where links attach. There is some allowance but supposed to stay within a certain range. On a level surface I used a magnetic angle finder on bar and disregarded the small curve at end of bar.

need a little lift kit advice
after not meeting the tire height requirements at a jeep rally this weekend i want a 3 inch lift kit. Which kit is the most complete ? as i'ld rather not have to order part by part.

Piecing together a kit is not a bad idea if you do some research and know what you want/need. Sometimes can work out to be a little cheaper, and again... you have what you want/need.

I just ordered my 2.5" OME lift from DPG Offroad. I am 100% stock now and I was told to not go any bigger than 30x9.5R15. Ideally I would like to run 31x10.5R15 on a 3.75 Back spaced wheel. What do you all think is the right move here?

You should be able to clear 31s, might possibly rub fenders and control arms. But I think you'll net a little more than 2.5". You can always trim fenders if they rub too much.

Ok I'm new here this my first post I've had my cherokee since 2009 with little to no problems a few weeks ago I smell musty smell after been locked up all day in 90° weather pulled my carpet soaked and floorboards rusted out.

For the shackle length measure from the bolts at each end of the shackle and that will be the length you need to match it up.

If you still have the original fender flairs, you can measure from the bottom of the flair to the center of the hub to know what the actual lift is. 17 inches in rear and 17.5 inches in front is stock height, anything above that is what lift you are above stock.
For the shackle length measure from the bolts at each end of the shackle and that will be the length you need to match it up.

Ok thanks I'll be back at the garage tomorrow to work on it some more I'll measure the lift and shackle from looks of it it appears to be stock length would I be better of going with what ever lenth it is even if it is stock or would longer be better for it.

Click for full resAlso, keep in mind, the amount of "lift" you get out of a shackle is determined by the shackle angle at rest against the datum line. For example, if your shackle angle is 90* in relation to the datum line, and your shackle is 2" longer than stock, you will get 2" of lift. If your shackle angle is 45* from the datum line, less than that... about an inch and a half, if I'm not mistaken.

Rear shackles installation
Ok, so I installed both new rear shackles on my 00' XJ for a 2" lift. After installation, I lowered it back down and noticed that it didn't lift and now my springs are straight. I think my shocks/struts must be topped out. (Keeping it from going any higher). It's the only thing I can think of. The shocks are 18", which I think is stock. Will getting longer ones (such as 20") solve my problem? Any suggestions much appreciated. Shane
