I got a 3in rough country lift kit, With a aal in the rear. Im getting a set of used RE 4.5 springs, and some rustys adjustable lower control arms. My problem is im not shure what the best cheap plan for the rear is to be, im thinking about getting a lift shackle. But im not shure if its the best ideal. i have a 78lb bumper on the front, and about a 70lbs winch as well. So im exspecting the front to drop a little. But ive been told RE springs run a bit higher then advertised. So whats your best ideals to do with the rear? thanks

RE>RC and 4.5">/<3" depending on what your needs are. However... AAL lifts are ill-advised regardless because after about a year, the AAL loses spring tension and sags to the same amount of your original leaf pack you're adding it too, with the added disadvantage of making the pack even stiffer... ergo riding like a dump truck with no lift.
If you're wanting 4.5" or more (which you shouldn't get much more than 4.5" on a used RE leaf pack) then go with the RE 4.5". If you're only wanting 3", then get a set of leafs from under a dakota or S10 out of the junk yard, cut the main eyes off and throw the leaf pack under your main XJ leaf for a bastard pack.

We have some missing information... such as what height are you trying to go with and/or what size tire are you trying to run?

Chiming back into this thread. I've decided to go with RE 3.5 super-ride lift, but i dont have the money to do the SYE that is recommended with over 3 inches of lift. Am i pushing my luck not doing that, and what are the dangers of running without it. As always, thanks all for input, and helping me figure out lifts

that kit tends to net about 4.5 inches...that is real tall for the stock driveline. Honestly, I would save until you can buy everything you need right away.

Im running 31s right now. I want to gain more lift so i can clear deep water better and for deep mud as well. And later on so i can go to 33s once these 31s wear out. Im just trying to figure out the best plan for rear. Cause i dont want it to sit high or sit low. I want it to be level with the front.

2000 XJ, 4.5" zone suspension lift, 15x8 rims with 3.75 backspacing, wondering how much rub if any I would get with 33x12.50 tires. It's my dd so I'm trying to keep mods to a minimum except flares and bumpers

simple question guys, maybe dumb, but....
cant i simply use a johnny joint to replace the trac bar heim. doesnt it provide the same function if i flip it vertical, does it not flex the same?
all i read says i need a new mount for double sheer if i run this, why?
