That's the next "freebie" labor and welder only project I am going to look at when I get the engine back together.

But I currently have a tight corporate 8.25 open and am debating whether I should just keep it and try and pick up a cheap lunchbox someone took out to put in a locker. It's a toss up at that point because I am very easy on this thing even off road. It just "Feels" like it needs just "slightly" a bit more rating in the front and I am tired of hanging a rear wheel in the air once in a while is all.

But I don't want to lose that high speed flat cornering this little sports car has on the road either. Yes, the sway bars will stay on no matter what anyone suggests. I believe there is a non extreme happy medium compromise that can be dialed into these if it is done right

P.S. something else I have been putting on paper is the possibility of adding air springs as adjustable rating, stops, and dial when needed lift. Too many other responsibilities happening all at once for that now though.

Hmmm.... I hadn't thought of it, to be honest. If they're measuring right though, give it a shot and see what happens. I don't see any "red flags" other than different spring rates that would make one say "OH GOD NO" to such a swap. The only other thing I'd throw out there (besides a hydraulic bumpstop) would be a progressive rate coil spring

Default '95 XJ Lift

Hello all I have a '95 with a 3" Rough Country lift Power Trax in the rear now I can see that is not quite enough for many of the trails here in Colorado. I am thinking of going to the Teraflex 2" budget boost lift in order to get 33" on. I wanted to know if anyone else has used this setup and how well it performs and lasts.

you're talking about putting the budget boost on top of your 3 inch lift?

yes I am since it is fairly new I did not want to take it out try to sell it then go to the expense of a 5" lift

it sounds simple in theory, but you're going to need much more then shackles and spacers at 5 inches. New control arms, upper and lower. At that height long arms would probably be best. You'll also need an adjustable trackbar If you don't have one already, as well as an sye. To run 33s you'll probably also want to regear.

Thank you for the reply man. You are absolutely right... Progressives would be the way to go with this for what I am wanting here. Things are just tight right now for us and I happened to have these laying around and measured them out and said "Hmm... I wonder?". Personal labor and time I have a lot of right now, finances I do not have a lot of right now. lol

Yes and thank you I have done a quote from 4wheel warehouse so all of that is on the list as well as lowering the transfer case and so on, my question I guess is this, Is it worth doing the 2: on top of the already existing 3" or should I just do a 5-1/2" lift. I know of one person that has done this 2" on top of a 3" and he likes it. I am reaching out to anyone else that may have experience with this and how they liked the results.

Try out those exploder coils and let us know man. I don't think I've seen anyone use those before.

Gonna follow a similar course, remove one of the leafs, and dial in with the shackle. Will do the shackle relocation on another round. I think this should be sufficient for now.

@Basslicks: Hey man! You got rid of your other Cherokee? I just picked up an underhood light for a newer XJ with you in mind. Thought last I saw it it was busted, so I snagged one for you.

Default Will Quadratec accept my kit back

I have a 3" zone lift with a t-case drop, sway bar quick disconnects, full leaf springs, shocks, coil springs, and u-bolts. I ordered it for my 1990 Cherokee. I bought it through quadratec and have only opened the boxes to make sure the parts are all there. Now I don't know if I'm gonna be able to use the kit at all so I was wondering if anyone knows if quadratec will take it back at all. Every time I call them I get no answer

Hey brother! Thanks, I appreciate that! Nope, it's still the same XJ. Just has a front clip from a 98 on it and some 33" Treadwrights! Check out my build thread for all the goodies I've done to it since the last time you were down.

Just a quick question i am getting ready to put a 3 inch lift on my 99 xj and wasn't sure what i would need to do other than the lift and extended brake lines.

if you are just running a 3 inch lift you won't need to extend your brake lines. but upper and lower control arms a heavy duty tie rod and a jks track bar is all i did and it rides great, no wobble or anything broken yet and i daily it and wheel it pretty much every weekend

get coil spacers and bigger/stiffer springs in the front and shackles and new leafs the size you want for the rear ,you will also have to beef up your front end : tie rod, track bar, upper/lower control arms, t case drop, if you want to run 33s with no issues. you dont need to go up to 5in to run 33s i went from 3 to 4 by doing that and run 33s with flat flares with plenty of clearence and plenty of room to flex i could also adjust the shackles in the rear and gain height
