Of course! In fact, it's more than okay. Any time you can buy replacement SPRINGS netting the same amount of lift as the spacers, you're ahead of the game.

The benefit is, you'll get the full amount of suspension travel out of lift springs versus stock springs and spacers.

You're welcome.

Your new question is kind of a loaded one, unfortunately. The stock length of the OEM coils are 17", but there are more variables than that. Heat treat, coil material (known as "wire") thickness, number of actual coils, then there's progressive, standard, and variable rates.

The best way to search for lift coils is just use semi-generic search terms. "Jeep Cherokee 2" lift" or "Jeep Cherokee Coil Lift Springs", etc.

Here's an example that shows some promising results:

Default Rubicon take offs for my XJ?

I have a silver 2001 Cherokee Sport and I would really like to put some newer Rubicon wheels on it. I can get all 5 wheels with brand new BF Goodrich Mud Terrain 255/75 R17’s for around $700. I know I will need the wheel adapters as well. I’ve seen other XJ’s with these same wheels and tires and I really like the look. My question is, how much lift will I need to use this tire/wheel? I’ve been looking at the Rubicon Express Super-Ride Short Arm kit but will I also need the SYE and CV driveshaft? I also want to avoid any fender cutting or modification at all. Is this even possible with this size tire? This is just a daily driver and most likely will only see very light off road use, if any.

255/75r17=32.1x10r17

So with 32" tires, you'll need about 4.5" of lift... for 4.5" of lift, see the chart below:

Default Cherokee Coil Spring Perches

Hello All. I have an 01 cherokee I plan to lift here in the spring with the Rusty's 3 inch advanced kit. Upon investigation, I noticed my front coil spring perches are rusting out considerably decent size holes through the side of them. I am quite concerned, so should I get them replaced before I lift it? I have no idea how. I've been looking online but all the mounts are so expensive. Any help is appreciated!

Safety should be your #1 goal in mind before doing anything else. So that being said I would say have those replaced or just find another axle the same as yours. Likely a D30 axle and swap them out one that has better spring perches then yours.

Not arguing for the sake of argument...however; I will disagree with your diagram about the lift specifications. Mine currently is sitting on a 3" DIY lift by that I mean pretty ****t put together but is running 32x11.5x15 tires. Now that part I'm not arguing because the original poster stated he wanted 17" tires on his Jeep. My disagreement is that you don't need everything dipicted on that diagram just because you have that size lift. Now maybe that does apply to the full on lift kits you buy from online or store instead of a DIY lift. Some of those items listed on a 3" lift are not on mine and mine is running fine without them. I will however; be replacing mine to a 4.5" kit soon so I expect to do a few things noted. (SYE, Extended Brake Lines) etc.

And I included them because they are supposed to be done, but I know people are cheap. Most Cherokee owners are going to cut corners, so I'd prefer to have them cut corners on things they *should* have and not on things they critically need

Fair enough. I see it being trial by error but having a guide to go by could save someone the headace down the road. Some XJ's can get away with not doing a SYE even at 4.5" for example. I don't disagree with why you posted it though.

You're right. But the fact that some XJs "can get away with" it does not mean they shouldn't have one. Using that example:

Even if the driveshaft ujoints aren't binding after your lift, they're still operating at a significantly greater angle. Not only does this severely reduce their operational lifespan, but it also pulls the old, worn ujoint out of phase from the pattern it has developed over time. Most XJs I look at still have factory ujoints after 20, 25, 30 years.

How many people do you think will voluntarily pay to have new ujoints installed with their lift if they won't spend the money on an SYE for proper driveline angles?

If I'm about to board a plane, and I hear the captain say, "We can take our chances without that repair. Some planes don't even have that equipment!", I'm exchanging my ticket

Will I need a new track bar for a 2.5" lift?

Do anyone run 16in wheels or are running 16in wheels? Im going going up a size from 15s to 16s, due to recent upping in prices of 15in tires. and the 16s are becoming the new 15s so the prices are going down. i was looking at 235/85r16s.has anyone one have any personal experience with tires that size in a mud tire? other options are the usual 265s, and 285s. but really interested in trying thoes 235s. Also whats a cheap steel 16x7 in wheels that are out. thanks.
