Good to know I will keep that in mind...I'm running the 4.5" now and well I have yet to get out on some serious trails yet but when I do I may find the same issue.

isnt it good to hit the bump stops? kinda the goal isnt it?

Not when I'm cruising down a trail or going over a speed bump. I can still flex it out till the bumpstops, but I can also scoot down the trail without spine damage. Attachment 402197Attachment 402198 this is the closest picture I have to fully flexed out with the 5.5" springs

maybe you can help me. I picked up a set super swamper in 33x10.5 R15. My XJ have a 2" Old Men Emu Lift with a trimmer pack (40mm extra) in the front to compensate the weight of my winch. The XJ also ve flat fenders and 4,56 gears.
Do you guys know how much lift I need to run thees tires? My front an rear shocks are long travel shocks so they will be long enough to run more lift.

I would agree that 4.5" lift is ideal for 33" tires but with some trimming you could get away with a 3" lift. Once you start flexing the suspension on a 3" with 33's you will probably or most likely run into rubbing or clearance issues.
I had 32x11.50x15 on a bastard 3" lift. However; my Jeep did have some slight trimming to make it work. I think I could have even squeezed 33's under it since it wouldn't have been much more height but I opted to put in 34.5" Rubicon Express/Rough Country long arm lift.

Everyone In my club runs 4.5" lift with 35" tires trimmed, with bumpstops I'm sure you could run the 33s on a 2-3" lift just fine. I ran 33s with long arms, 12" travel shocks, and factory flares at 4.5"

2001 XJ Sport with shot suspension
I've been doing lots of searching but my question isn't really specific to OME lifts. I was looking at piecing together a lift with 2930 coils (1.75") with RE spacers (1.75") up front, with CS033RB leafs. Now my question is about shocks, has anyone attempted to pair Rancho 9000xl shocks with other lift kits? I was looking at the specs for them and they seem to be longer than the OME shocks compressed or open by 2". I'm wondering if this is possible and what effect will it have on the ride off-road and on-road

You may need slightly longer lower control arms to center the wheel, but you should be alright

Yeah I should think so. I have Rough Country lower control arms on mine with 3.5" and 33s with some moderate fender trimming and it works great. The Curry arms you have should be perfect.... especially if they're adjustable.
New to XJ suspension
Hi, I have a 1988 2 Door Cherokee and I have a few questions.
1. Will stock ride hieght accept 31x10.5 tires?
2. I was thinking about spacing the wheels 1 to 2 inches, have there been issues with stock axles doing this? Should I get new lug studs? And does it make off-road driving smoother?
3. I want to make the ride smoother, and I was considering doing new front coils, are there any recommended springs and aborbers that are relatively cheap?
I went through some short trails just messing around the other night and was thinking I could improve the ride through a few small changes
