I have a 2000 jeep Cherokee sport and am looking for a cheap lift, are coil spacers a good idea and what should I look out for in installing them. thanks
How much lift are you looking for? What size tires do you want to run?
I would never be happy with spacers myself, I would atleast go with a 3" lift from someone like Rough Country. Its about $389 with all new shocks and free shipping usually and you can run up to a 31" tire.

RC is garbage. Where i work we are a dealer and the quality is severely lacking...save a touch more and get rustys or zone.
Figures a RC hater would come out...lol. Its not "garbage", I've run one of their smaller lifts on a ford ranger and then my 01 XJ, not a single issue with either lift. I wouldnt hesitate to purchase one of their basic (3") lifts again. Now for something more complex, yes, I would probably go with something else. I've run skyjacker and Rubicon Express years ago on my older XJ's and had good results with them. For my next build Im looking at Rusty's, Ive used some of their components in the past but never one of their complete lift kits.
I've run lifts on other trucks from Superlift, Rancho, Pro Comp, etc. They all have their up sides, down sides, haters and fans.
Point is.....there are Plenty of options out there......besides spacers.

ive used them and sell them to poor souls that insist lol....there garbage man im sorry. Its a waste of money when you can get a substantially better product for not much more.

3", 4.5", etc Lift, Largest Tires with No Fender Modification on Stock 2000 XJ
Researching modification of stock 2000 XJ with 3 or 4.5 inch lift and largest tire possible without fender modification. The latter part of this is making my search more difficult because I can't easily filter in the forum for this. I kept getting lead down rabbit holes with google searches... there are so many Jeep conversations out there... .
This is my first time doing any modification like this to any XJ. Does anyone have examples/forum links/pictures of both a 3 vs. 4.5 (or others) inch lift with largest tire possible/aesthetically acceptable and no fender modification and no rubbing? I'm not looking to do any extreme off-roading with this one, just light trails and aesthetics. I'm looking to keep this as stock as possible aside from the required adds/modifications for the lift itself.
I have a 3inch lift on my 2000 and run 31-10.5 15's on it with no problems. BUT I did have to cut off the bottom lip of the plastic bumper corners on each side because they would rub, no big deal.

Newbie to XJ, not new to modifying the **** out of vehicles.
I'm going to chime in on this topic too. I just picked up a cherry 92 Laredo (rust free) and I want to keep it looking pretty 90's era appropriate. I've done research on wheel/tire/lift requirements, but I just want to confirm again that a 2" lift (probably the Rubicon Express, Zone or Skyjacker since everyone seems to say R/C is complete crap) will indeed give me enough room for 15x8" et-19 and 30x9.5 BF Goodrich KO2's. I don't want to sacrifice the driveablity or gas mileage (i.e. I don't want to get too crazy on this Jeep since I already have a Raptor, wild Sport Trac and race cars to feed that urge) so that's why I'm not going bigger. Plus it's such a clean and vintage XJ, I want to keep it that way. I mean look at that interior...
30s are the essentially the same size as 235/75r15...you can fit both without a lift, but imo you are better off with 235s since there are nore options and they are cheaper.

See that's what I was thinking...I currently have 235/75 and no rubbing issues. According to BFG my 235/75 are 28.9" and the 30x9.5 KO2's are 29.5". Why couldn't I just run 31x10.5" KO2's (30.5") with a 2" lift?
