That must be a good thing, since I had zero problems in over 8 years on my other Jeep.
p.s. Band-Aid is the #1 selling brand name of bandages.
p.p.s. Even with a sye you have to rotate the axle to make it work like it's supposed to.On a TJ, that means 4 adjustable control arms. A sye by itself is a "band-aid" (in your words) too.

Ditch it for a better system than long arms that hang up on every rock. TJ guys learned this 10 years ago.

Good morning! Recently joined the forum after much research and inspiration from all of the great looking XJ's out there. I have tried finding an answer to my question prior to posting but you ALL are the experts. How come there are a lot of 3" lift kits out on the market complete w/shocks, however less 3.5" kits with shocks. I understand the difference between lifts being '.5"' however would any of you be able to further clarify any pros/cons when deciding between a 3" lift vs a 3.5" lift? I am looking to run 31X10.50R15 on stock 15X8 Ravine wheels.

To me personally, after having 18 Jeeps that I lifted myself, the most important thing for ride quality is shocks. Springs are for ride height with the weight of the vehicle calculated. Proper coil springs spring rates don't vary much for a specific vehicle. Leaf springs will never ride as smooth as coil springs. EXAMPLE; I bought 3" HD (heavy duty) front coils springs for one of my Jeeps. They stated they were for Jeeps with heavy armor, bumpers, winch , etc. I put them on my Jeep with none of those and got over 4" of lift and a stiff ride because my new shocks were too short. I added a heavy 80lb bumper and winch months later and it rode great with a 3" ride height.

This is a generic question since I already have a 3" lift on my 01 XJ. I currently have fixed length lower control arms and I need to install adjustable control arms in order to be able to make some minor adjustments. The issue I'm running into is what ends do I choose. I see control arms equipped with Johnny Joints, poly bushings and rubber bushings. I know the JJs allow more flex than the rubber or poly but I don't know how they wear compared to rubber or poly. This XJ will be 95% street with occasional mild trail or beach driving. My preference is long wear over maximum flex, and price is not really an issue. So bottom line, which type control arm ends last the longest?

Default No lift and 31s?

This is my first post on the forum so I'm sorry if this is the wrong place. Anyway, I bought my first Cherokee about a month ago and I'm looking at doing some suspension work soon. I do not want a lift but I am looking at replacing all the stock components with the heavy duty replacements from crown and similar companies. With this in mind, if I put a set of Napier flat flares on would I be able to run 31s without rubbing? I don't plan on doing any serious wheeling just unmaintained dirt roads and snow at best.

That will be close without a lift , you can probably expect some rub on tight turns,

Flat flares require trimming the sheet metal to open up the wheel wells, so they should fit. The tires will rub the lower control arms when fully turned. A couple of washers added to the steering stops with fix this.

I will be putting on new wheels with better backspacing. That should fix that issue wouldn't it?

Yes it will. Here's a pic of 31s and flat flares. It has the up country package suspension that adds 1" of lift.

Default Building a brake system that will have a proportioning valve for my modified xj

I need to know how to set up a second master cylinder and a proportioning valve for my xj on 44 front and 9” rear. Currently I have the single master cylinder for all four disks and am running into sticky brakes that tend to bind every once in a while. The brake system I put all new rotors, master cylinder, and pads but am finding it still minimal binding on front pads for no reason! This is the only thing I can think of making a slight noise once warmed up and driving. It almost sounds like a card is running up against the tire for a moment and then stops.

Default Adding coil spacers and shackles to existing lift

I’m new to the forums and had a couple of questions regarding adding some lift . I currently have a 98 Jeep Cherokee with a 3 inch rough country II series lift kit . I’m looking to add a little clearance to solve some rubbing issues. I’m pretty new to lift kits. Is it possible for me to add a 2 inch coil spacer and adjustable 2 inch shackle to my existing lift kit? Would this require longer shocks or brake line extensions ? Thanks so much in advance for any advice .

Yes to all questions. Jeep YJ wrangler (1987-1995) brake lines are about 4" longer and very inexpensive. That's what I use on mine.

I'm at 5.5" of lift with 33s right now.

Default Wheels and Tyres

Hi Im new to this forum and new to Cherokee XJ world, I recently got a 98 Cherokee and Im in process of modifing it.
Here a photo of my cherokee and the progress in the last 3 months:

I got a 4.5 lift kit of Rough Country and bushwacker fender flares.
The wheels that it have now are 16x7 and the tires are more or less 29.5s.
As you can see I really need bigger wheels.
I want to know if 33 tires will fit without trimming more than was already done with the fender flares already installed.
And also if I need new rims, the tires are 33x12.5 so there is a lot of difference between rims and tires width (rims of 7" compared to 12.5" of the tires that I want).

I will apreciate much your tips, Thanks in advance!!!
