I appreciate the pictures, but I just don't understand how the Z-bracket works.

I've read that 3-4 times and am still lost. All of the pictures look exactly the same...but then again i've never messed with brake lines so I don't know exactly what i'm supposed to keep an eye on

I'm still having trouble understanding where the rear brake line even is. To my knowledge, it goes from a T-fitting on the rear axle to....somewhere on the frame apparently. How exactly does the bracket work if it's just adding length, but the line won't actually be connected to anything?

Ok, the rear brake line where it goes from a hard line to a soft line is by the fuel filter on the inside of the left "frame" rail. There is a little clip that slides into a groove in the joint between hard and soft, it holds it to the original bracket. You bolt the new "z" bracket to the original bracket and then straitin the bends in the hard line then you clip the brake line into the new bracket with the original clip. I hope this was helpful!

Okay I think i've got a better understanding for it. So in this picture, the red circle is where the original bracket was, where the hard and soft lines met.
But now, with the z bracket, the blue circle is where the two meet, giving the lines that extra 2-3 inches of slack to reach?

stock XJs can fit 30s, and most 2" BBs say 30s are the tires to use, so you'd have no problem with 30s on a 3" lift. I'm about to get a 3" lift as well and 30s are my backup option if 31s are rubbing too much
