225's are the stock tires, they should be fine

I am running 235/70/15 before my lift with no trouble. Turn the 225 back in for some 235 you will be happier with the look and offroadsness ( I made up that word)

With a 3.5" lift will I be ok with 32" tires or should I go with 31 or 30?
Depends on if you have flares or not...i fit them with flares and some trimming...but they still rubbed, so i took the flares off and trimmed...now i have PLENTY of room.lol

haha ya, I've been reading up on removing flairs and trimming them. I kind of like the stock look with them on, and since im no hardcore off road guy, I think I'll probably go with 31"s and leave the stock flairs.(I'd get some bushwacker flat style flairs if they weren't $400+) And it sounds like I'll be getting a 3.5" kit with new leafs instead of the "add-a-leaf" kits. The guys at my local 4 wheel parts have XJs and they recomended getting some stock Wrangler wheels. They are 16" but I guess they push the tire out for a little better stability, and it just looks a lot nicer IMO.

I need to get my baby back from the shop before I get to crazy with plans hehe. Its getting a new clutch, fixing A/C, and a few other minor electrical fixes.

Ranger rims do the same thing as jeep ones and I have always found them cheaper. Part of it may have been I already had a set

Default SYE or no SYE???

I've read quite a few of these pages. The "lift" Thread was a great idea, but ar 20+ pages, it's hard to research in an organized method. I'll try to ask what I'm looking for here.

99 Sport 4x4, 137K mile on it and I'm the new daddy. I want a lift. I've learned to avoid AAL. I really don't want to go above 31" in the distant future due to tire cost and wanting reasonable gas mileage and a reasonable ride for a lifted truck.

Reading online and on some vendor's website has me thinking I NEED a SYE for a 2" BB. I am terrified to go through all the work lifting this thing and have vibrations (My old car had BAD vibrations that I spent thousands of dollars chasing down that never got cured-so I don't want to take a non vibratory jeep and screw it up)

Do I need a SYE for a 2" lift? Most will say no I hope.

Do I NEED a SYE for a 3" lift

Do I need a SYE for a 3.5" lift?

I don't plan on going higher than that. I don't know if vendor are trying to scare you into buying a SYE in leiu of a T-case drop. Is there a reason why a T-case drop wouldn't work and you would NEED to do a SYE at 3.5" lift?

Last but not least, if I keep my stock 15" wheels, will I be able to run 30" tire w/o spacer?

Thank you so much!

i am at 3.5" of lift with no SYE just depends on your jeep and the wear on it.

Not saying you didn't need one but why bother going the ghetto route of TC drop which will have to be changed to SYE anyways at some point down the line? Easier just to get it over with

unless he is just unlucky he shouldn't need either...even some of the 242s get away with no drop got a buddy running 4.5" on his without vibes or a drop or SYE.

I'm at 4.5 and instead of using a tc drop I ordered a new crosmember from rusty's, it has a 1 inch drop built into the center section and u don't lose any ground clearance. And it is beefy!!
