I've got a 96 XJ with the Up-Country package. It's lifted 1inch from the factory. I'm looking into getting a leveling kit up front to add an extra 2 inches and short pro comp rear add a leafs to add another 2 inches in the back as well. My question is will my stock struts work with the additional 2 inches?

People are going to say that u shouldn't get an aal but if your rear springs arnt sagging than go for it. And by struts I assume u mean shocks or control arms? If u are referring to shocks I would just get a new set because yours are 15 years old anyway. If u meant control arms it would be a good idea to get new longer lowers but the uppers will be fine. Hope this was helpful.

your stock control arms are fine with a 2" budget boost type lift. New shocks are a good idea assuming that yours are stock. If they are a recent replacement set and you are on a tight budget then you can get by with what you have for now, but I'd plan on replacing when funds allow for it anyway because the ones you have that are designed for a stock ride height are going to be sitting higher in their stroke at at a level stand still with the lift and there for limit your droop when your suspension needs to flex. The add a leaf will work fine (as said) with your set up if your stock leafs aren't already sagging. If you already have a reverse rake thing going on then they won't last. It's supposed to add arch to your spring pack but if all the other leafs are shot and aren't working with it, then it's going to wear out in a hurry.

I guess I wasn't really paying attention to the part about it already sitting an inch higher, which would make it come out to three inches (too much beer and sun while working on the jeep). I had 2" budget boost stuck in my head. Depending on the cash he has to throw around I still think it would be worth it to try it with the stock arms first before dropping the cash on new lowers. Of course I'm just cheap that way. Something else to point out is that getting the long add a leafs would be a better option as opposed to the short ones mentioned.

Ok so I don't have a lift or big tires yet, but I'm going to get the 4.5 inch zone lift and run 31's on it. The kit includes coils, AAL, shackles, LCAs, tcase drop, shocks, ubolts, swaybar links, and all bushings and hardware.
Now my question is, is anything else needed?
I know I don't need a new pitman arm. But I was on rustys site and was reading about a steering box brace, and they said it is a must have if your running 31's and I'm prolly gonna get it. Is there anything else I should know of though? Thanks

I put a 4.5 on mine and I'm about to get 32's. I didn't put on a brace and am probably not going to. You are going to have to either redrill the axle side hole for the track bar or get an adjustable one. If you get a drop bracket or get a new bar with drop bracket than you will need a drop pitman ARM.

The plan is to get this setup and roll on it for a while until I've got money for a bigger lift. BTW my XJ is my daily driver and doesn't really get a lot of trail time.... FOR NOW Seems as tho the rear spring pack is sagging just a bit tho... Should I get front spacers and then some adjustable shackles instead of the kit?

Decision time:
I am ready to pull the trigger on a lift, hung up deciding between these two:
1. Iron Rock Off Road 5.5" Short arm (with shocks) kit: http://www.ironrockoffroad.com/Merch...egory_Code=PFX
2. Rubicon Express 5.5" Short arm (w/o shocks) kit: http://rubiconexpress.com/Suspension...px?part=RE6200
(I would buy it from DPG: http://dpgoffroad.com/products/5-inc...hybrid-xj-kit/)
Need genuine pros, cons, loves and hates.
I will be ordering a driveshaft and SYE, also gearing, axles and lockers.
Please please, please please please HELP. I have been searching/researching for what seems like forever and need help. I am search overloaded.

If I were you I would probably do iron rock instead of rubicon express because from now on I doubt that the quality that they used to have will still be the same, stands true for most things when a company has a ownership change. And I would also look into upgrading to long arms instead of keeping short arms because of the ARM angle it will not ride the best. I have a 4.5 inch kit so I can't speak from the 5.5 standpoint but it can't be that much different. What it really comes down to is how much hiya have to spend on it and witch seems best to you because you take the hit in the wallet and you will be the one driving it. Hope I helped a little. Good luck!

don't know if this is the right spot but it concerns wheels. is it safe and/or possable to stack wheel spacers? like 1.5" spacer and another on that, then the wheel mounted. just wondering, thought of doing it to all four wheels. again, i'm sorry if this has been asked or the worng place to ask.

I'm sure it's possible, but I wouldnt do it. Most people will tell you wheel spacers are a bad idea when you are only using one set (let alone 2). Why would you want to run two sets of wheel spacers? If it is an offset issue keep in mind that you could easily buy some new wheels with the correct back spacing for less $ that two sets of good quality spacers.
