^^ this.
It's either controlled by your tires rubbing, or your shock bottoming out - whichever comes first

either get longer bump stops or get some hockey pucks, you can search that method on here. cheap and easy.
i dont have a good spot to flex, and i am going on my first wheeling trip this weekend, I am lifted about 4 inches. im going to put in 3 inches of extra bump stop and adjust on the trails as necessary.

Got a quick question from anybody who can answer.
Currently got a 3 inch lift on my '88 with 0.75 inch coil spacers and 0.75 inch extended shackles. I have the stock trac-bar and stock steering linkages. Extended sway-bar disconnects, extended brake lines, and I dropped my transmission support down by about a quarter inch to stop driveshaft vibrations. I want to lift it up about another 1 or 1.5 inch(s). What all will I have to get to safely lift her up this little amount?? I'm sure I'll need an aftermarket trac-bar as the stock one is within marginal specs with my 3 inch lift. Anyone with good answers will be greatly appreciated.

You're def going to need new LCAs. You can drill a new hole for your trackbar axle side mount so that's not much concern. You'll prob need new shocks as well (i don'y know what size you have now though). For the front I recommend either new springs or thicker spacers. For the rear keep your springs, and get shackle relocation boxes - WELL worth it for better ride/flex, and have 3/4"-1" lift built into them.

I am running 31's, probably about 30's cause they are at least half worn... lol, but i got them used for under 100 for all 4. My lift is about 4 - 4.5. I am doing hockey pucks.
I went to D I C K' s sporting goods and bought 8 of them, for about $15 or less. What I did was when i had the springs out and before I put my new lift spring in, I bought a drill tap. I drilled a hole in the bottom spring perch, then tapped it to 3/8". I bought bolts of different lengths depending on what I need, but I have enough to do 4" of bump stop. i dont want to rub, and I dont want to trim my fenders. The top hockey puck I used a 1" paddle to bore a hole so the washer and bolt head can sit below the surface of the puck so the stock bump stop doesnt hit the bolt head and get messed up.
I am throwing 3 in there for now and see what happens saturday. I will be having my sway disconnected so I can get max flex out and see if I have enough or too much.

I found a used bds 6.5" sa lift with drop brackets for 350$. Guy say he will give me everything for a complete bolt on kit. What all parts should I need to install this on my xj. I already have a 3" spacer lift and this seems to good of a deal to pass up.
Just would like to know what all parts I should be getting for this to be a complete kit? I'm sure ill need to do a t case drop or sye right? Sorry for questions I'm still a noob to xjs.
Any help greatly appreciated. This is a great forum with awesome members and hope I can get help and some day help a noob like myself

coils, uppers and lower control arms, brake lines, trac bar, shocks, rear leaf springs, t case drop or sye, big *** tires
Thanks for the reply. He listed all those parts except for upper arms. I run 33 12.50 15 pro comp mts right now on my 3" spacer lift with fenders cut. Plan is to run 36" tires or some where around there after 6.5" lift. I'm kinda confused on the whole la vs sa debates. It sounds like from what I read sa will be ok for me. I am a welder fabricator though so maybe I could make some long arms?

would 4.5 look goofy with my 30s while i save up for 33s? also i dont really wanna have to do a bunch of extra stuff. im looking to add the lift parts and thats it. like no brakes or sye or tcase drop none of that junk. so is that possible with 4.5 on my 94?
