Hey guys, Im new to the site and Just got a 1996 Cherokee 4.0 5 speed with 211K. Picked it up Real cheap and runs like a top. Has some rot on floors and rockers, And MAJOR shock problems. It sags Really bad in rear ( bottoms out alot) and wobble in front. Looks like everything is OEM an never been changed. I want to lift it, but unsure of what else will need to be done if i do so. I was thinking a 3'' or 4.5'' I like the Rough Country products and will most likey go through them.

The rear leafs are shot, so if i buy a lift with a spring pack kit, thats new leafs right?
Also i will have to relocate my track bar in front ( re drill it?)

If i got with the RC 4.5 kit will i need a SYE ( slip yoke elimatior) Or can i get away with out it?

The price diffrence is only 79 buck from the 3inch to 4.5 kit. THATS a no brainer get the 4.5 but will it make alot more work?

As far as I know, you'll be better off getting a SYE. If not , you could possibly get by with lowering the T-case crossmember, but that'll cause issues a lot of times, like the engine will be slanted down by the firewall and the engine mounts take more stress. I'd recommend getting a SYE and some 6 degree shims. You'll need extended front brake lines. I wouldn't recommend re-drilling for the trac-bar since there's not a lot of metal there to move over. I also wouldn't recommend getting a relocation bracket either... Best bet is to get an adjustable trac-bar... As far as steering goes, may have to get a lower pitman arm but that may be marginal. Not sure if the RC kit comes with lower and upper control arms, but if not, get them for sure. While you're messing with the driveline, go to you local junkyard and get a V8 ZJ tierod... those are beefier and solid bars... I can't think of anything else....

yes a the full spring pack will replace the entire rear leaf springs. i would recommend getting an adjustable trac bar instead of re-drilling yours. you might be ok without sye but if you got the money just do it and be done with it. yes go with the 4.5.
btw i am very please with rough country and their customer service

i have a 95 xj with 8" of RC lift. I have adjustable control arms, control arm dropkit, adjustable trac bar, sway bar quick disconnects, and stem to eye adapter kit for front shocks in front and 4.5" leaf pack with drop shackles in rear. While installing the extended brakes lines (front and rear) I noticed that the drag link joint to tie rod was rubbing on bottom of the passenger side sway bar bracket on the axle.

With 3.5"s of lift you can fit 32's...just have to trim your fenders...im at 3.5"s with trimmed fenders and im almost positive i could fit 33's, but i like my flex room...and im running the 32" maxxis bighorns and they're awesome off road and great on road.
