hey guys, i was wondering, i have a cherokee with a 4.5 inch lift, and was wondering if i decided to put 35'' tires on it, if thats even a practical idea, most people iv talked to so far have said not to go any bigger then a 33's, because of gearing and rubbing and whatnot, but if anyone has done this, could ya help me out, what amount of offset would be needed for it to work, trimming, all that. thanks-

Anyone know of other places to get a addon steering stabilizer like this one from Rusty's Offroad:
Any vendors on CF or other companies that sell something like this cheaper and with less S&H cost?

bad u-joint
bad hub bearings
bad trackbar bushing(s)
bad TREs
sloppy steering box
but my money is on the tires being the cause.

You shouldn't need another stabilizer either. If you're getting wobble - replace the steering component that's worn out and causing the wobble.

unless you have over the knuckle steering I don't advise you do this - or your new stabilizer will become a battering ram / rock magnet.

I completely agree... for those with DW... a new stabilizer will hide your original problem. A stabilizer shall never be the cause of death wobble. plenty of people dont even have them. those trying to fix DW should remove the stabilizer and find the bad components to fix it, then replace.

What steering components could be causing death wobble? It rarely happens to my ride but sometimes at slower speeds when I hit a bump just right, my whole front end shakes like an earthquake. I don't know how to diagnose it since it only does it once in a great while.
alignment
tie rod ends (caused mine)
ball joints
control arm bushings
track bar (pretty common cause for alot of cases)
and other things... but these are the things I would check first.
if you can get a helper... you can get under the jeep and check for play in all those areas while someone turns the wheel.

I'd suggest new leaf spring packs instead of Add-A-Leaf. I wouldn't mess with blocks if I were you. AAF's are ok if your current leaf packs are in good shape. Mine were arching upwards so AAF were a no-go. Really, if you can afford it, get full leaf spring packs that equate to 3.5" lift. Also, your front brake line lengths will be marginal and if you plan on doing lots of flexing, you're better off getting extended ones for sure. 6 degree shims are a good idea for the rear axle at that height to prevent driveshaft vibes. A Slip Yoke Eliminator isn't necessarily needed at this height, but it's up to you. Just more money.. I got by without one. I just lowered my T-case crossmember by a quarter inch using several stacked washers paired with those 6 degree shims I mentioned.

Well I stuck a RC 3" lift with full leaf pack on my Jeep some months ago. I never checked the lift I actually got at the time of the lift.
Now after a few wheeling trips I thought I would see what the lift settled to. Stock flares all the way around.
I went out and I have 18.5" in front and 19" in back center of the hub to the bottom of the flare.
Don't tell me I have a one inch lift after settling.

Honestly, nothing is particularly wrong with blocks, its just that in my opinion, the longer U-bolts you'll need seem like they could more easily bend the longer they are because of the stress they could potentially see depending one what you're going to be using your XJ for. As far as shocks, I'd go with Rancho or Blisten, but if you're on a budget, Rusty's Offroad has some basic ones which I'm running on my rig and I haven't had a problem yet. They work fine for me.
