I'm running a 3" front spring with stock Control arms. I netted about 4" of lift with those springs. It doesn't handle that great, yet it is a jeep. I wouldn't go much taller then 3" with stock CA's.

I'm looking now to go to a 4.5" kit with LA's.

im just wondering if i can stick them under it until i build my long arms thats all... im gonna try too... and keep the stock shocks till i get jacked up and figure out the lengths i need... lol

Yeah, I think the CA's will be fine. I'd be careful of the stock shocks at 3". I wouldn't do any off roading like that, that's just askking to blow a shock out...LOL

I read a lot of these posts but I can't go through them all. Here's my deal..

I've driven jeeps all my life as a spare car to my sports cars or for bad weather. I've had two cherokees and an 05 liberty.
For the ten years I've been driving I've always been intimidated to mod my jeep but it's time to start. I have lots of experience with engines and modding for HP bot no experience whatsoever with suspension. Here's the deal:

-I have a 2000 Cherokee which is stock.

-This build will be for minimal off-roading but mostly geared towards inclement weather driving.

-I want to lift it about 3 to 3.5 inches but no more.

-I want the largest wheel/tire combo that will not scrape.

-I want the ride quality to stay as close to stock as possible. That means I don't want that 'marshmellow' feel I've felt in other heavily modded jeeps on the highway and I'd like to keep tire drone to a minimum.

-I want to know what parts are involved in doing a PROFESSIONAL job.. I don't want a set up done half assed that will harm the above requirements or damage or wear out anything faster than normal.

bigjeepbigsnow: i put the rubicon express 3.5" super ride on my 96 cherokee, it rides pretty nice for a lifted jeep and for how much the lift was it was worth it, the kit is really complete and good quality. I think it actually comes out to closer to 4". you could probably get away with 30s but 31s would probably look better.


my question for everone else: as i said above, i have the RE 3.5", and from what ive read from other posts its closer to 4". the biggest tires RE recommends for that kit is 31s, and my friend had some 32s i couldnt pass up. since that kit doesnt come with shocks, i found some mopar ones off a 2009 wrangler rubicon, ive also read that those work for lifts 2-4", i think, but im not sure. im looking into coil spacers and shackle kits, i wanna go at least an inch to clear the tires but if i could fit 2" in the front and a 1.5" shackle in the back that would be sweet, i just dont know if my shocks have enough travel. any info would be awesome.

Hi all. I have a 96 that's sagging pretty badly in the rear. I love my Jeep and have had next to no problems with it since I got her in January of 97. I'd like to get it sitting level again, and maybe even a little higher in the back.

Question is, since I'd be buying new rear springs (and probably shocks while I'm at it), would it be better to just get a 3" lift? I want to keep it driving like a stock Jeep and don't want to mess with any of the additional problems that seem to go with a lift (transfer case, brake lines, etc).

Would it be better you think to just buy some replacement springs, and maybe this Skyjacker 2":

Case anyone's wondering, those are Cooper Discoverer ATRs @ 235/75r15 (which are about 28" tall), and they do rub at full turn.

I was wondering if anyone has the rusty's 4.5" lift, with the 3.5" full leaf packs, and shacles? And do you like it? What do you think of the coil springs? I'm thinking of upgradeing. I have the zone 3" AAL kit.

I'm going to a long arm setup also.

Anyone have good recommendations on a good snow tire that is also good for daily driving year round? I'm not really gonna do off-roading so I don't need anything too aggressive.

The Cooper Discoverer ATRs that I have on the Jeep two posts up are very good in the snow. They are quite loud on the road, but I'm happy with them. The guy I bought the Jeep from put them on before he sold it, so I've had them on there for three years now and they don't show any wear at all. I don't know if I got some supertires or something, but I can't see having to replace them anytime soon.

Like I said, they're great in the snow (which we get a lot of here), but are loud on the road. I just turn the Megadeth way up and call it good.

I'm getting a 6.5" R.C. Long Arm Lift Kit for my Cherokee. I'm also installing an SYE and new drive shaft. I was wondering if I install the SYE do I also need to do a TC drop or would it improve it further if I added a TC drop? Also, what's a good back spacing for 33" tires with a lift like that? Just wondering what everyone's opinion is before I make a final decision. Thanks.

no tc drop. i have 4in bs with my 33s and 5.5 lift

so on the stock suspension(kinda saggy in back) and wheels(the black 5 spoke wheels) and any amount of trimming necesary(4door if it matters) can i run 31x10.5x15 mud terrains or agressive a/t's?

Yeah, I kept googling it and later found out that the TC and SYE don't go together. How is you're steering radius with a 4" BS? Does it still turn pretty well?
