it depends on the jeep and the drivetrain/axles - every jeep is different

I'd estimate 6" max with a stock XJ front DS, maybe more with a ZJ one.

Not sure, I have a buddy with a 98, stock front DS, >8" of lift.

Save up the money, get an Advanced Adapters HD SYE, top notch quality, nothing for you to mess up drilling, tapping or cutting.

Ive heard a lot about SYEs over the time but not what to use for drivelines/where people get them (favored stores). Does the driveline come part of the kit or am I missing something? Im going to see how mine does without one for now (3.5" bastard pack lift), but just want to know what to keep my eyes open for.

Or, after reading the last post again, and seeings as how I have an extra front driveline, perhaps I should go that route on one of the jeeps... Is there a build thread on that conversion?

Most SYE kits don't come with a new rear driveshaft, however Advanced Adapters does sometime offer a package deal with a Tom Woods DS.

IMO, you don't need a Tom woods driveshaft, get an Advance Adapters SYE and rebuild two stock front driveshafts. A stock front will work in the back with an SYE and if you have a spare it will work for the front or rear.

Are the front driveshafts as strong as the rears?

The front ds is plenty strong and for most applications its the perfect length. Iron rock offroad has a hack and tap kit with a refurbished ds for $200.

I didn't get one and I don't have any problems with my 3 inch lift.

Not that I can tell. Well, physically it had to have moved it, but I've been driving on it for about 6 months now with no problem.

Ok cool, because I didn't want it to be a noticeable inch or so. But I guess I'll just skip the track bar an just get one later if I ever need one. Thanks

You might need an alignment after the lift, I didn't get one, not sure if that's bad or not?

How are your tires wearing. After six months that should give you a good idea.

They look evenly worn. I'll take a closer look later. I measured the front of the tires with the back of the tires and it was a little off. I read how to do this from a diy alignment page.

This is on the list to do as I take the rig higher. Thanks BN
