so all you need to add 1.5-2 inches on top of the 3.5 inches is extended control arms, leaf spring, leaf spring shackles, and coil spacers? that seems pretty simple. do you know the most cost-effective way to come about those parts? i found leaf spring sets for around 100 and the coil spacers seem pretty cheap.

cheapest way would be to buy a kit for 4.5", and sell the parts you have now. Rusty's offroad and Rough Country have very complete kits available

Default 97 xj 4.5 in rough country lift with leaf springs

Hey everyone , I had trick trucks put a 4.5 in rough country lift with a Add-A-Leaf on my 97 xj back in Jan of 2011. Last week I decided to add full rough country leaf springs. I did the leaf springs myself and I left the blocks that were under the factory leafs on. The car is level all around, but now my rough country shocks are fully extended with no room for upward bounce.

I looked up and called rough country about my rear shocks and it shows that they are for a TJ wrangler, but trick trucks says that when they call, they are told that the right shocks are on the jeep. Trick truck also says that they remove the blocks when installing the leafs.

My question is...Do you think I should remove the blocks or pursue that i have the right shocks?

I am afraid that removing those blocks with lower the rear. What other options do I?

Thanks!

BTW my is an 01 and I'm not looking for more then 3"... I don't think! LOL Just putting the finishing touches on new bumpers and winch then on to a lift kit. yea you probably could, but are your gears and axles up to the task? 31s/33s to 35s+ is a big step strength wise

Default ><>shackle or add a leaf lift???

I am putting just a little lift on jeep for now (for a year or so)
since my budget is low low I am keeping it simple for at least now... What is better for a lift on a stock jeep cherokee 1999 sport..... i got the spacers for the front now all i have to do is order the rear now.... is a shackle lift better than a add a leaf to the rear??? ( i really cant see the add a leaf helping all that much my springs that are back there now are very tired, and how can a add a leaf make up for that and give me 2 inch?)

Get bigger shackles. Cause if you eventually have to get new leaf packs, you'll still have those shackles. I put some on my 99 classic and it was cheap and easy.

Hack N' Tap from Iron Rock Offroad or Dirtbound Offroad is a good choice.
