How would you pull out the t case if work needed to be done to it short of cutting things apart?
Nope, staying at 3". I did the lift, had vibes, and then put the drop on. I even took the drop off the other day hopeing that my leafs settled down enough to get rid of the vibes but no go. I thought that vibes were caused by the slip yolk being too far extended and not having enough length engaged in the tail housing? So i figured that adding shims would basically push the driveshaft towards the tc more.

And heres the x member. The center is removable. Pretty clever really.

Ok the cross member makes sense now lol. And the slip yoke is there to allow travel. Think of the u joint like the ones on your front axle. In 4wd when you turn too sharp it'll turn your wheel on you. Same thing for your driveshaft, just less of an angle and more speed. You may need an SYE and cv shaft to fix that. What t case do you have?

Well an SYE and CV shaft are, from what I've read, easy to acquire. I've got a 242. Some guys on here might say that a long arm kit is a waste of money on a 3" lift, and I kinda agree but it all comes down to what you want. Are you just adding the long arms to upgrade what you've got?

Sorry, I should specify. Easy to acquire for a 231.

Yeah. Basically i need to push my axle foreward about 1", so instead of spending $500 in a set of good adj control arms, Im just gona go ahead and get long arms. Im running 33's so im already bump stopped enough that it will stop the axle before the long arms hit the frame rail. Ive done alot of research to make sure this kit will work and even talked to a guy at clayton that said he has run there LA's on a 3" lift.

I was thinking about doing a 3" lift with 31" tires and wondering if the tire size would be too big. Other lift heights and tire sizes are more than welcome as I am completely unfamiliar to lifts and whatnot.
When I lifted my 99 3" I had to trim the front of the bumper end caps because they kept rubbing. I went up to 4" and it cleared completely. I was running km2's so maybe the size of the tread was the difference.

Default Lift for 2000 XJ

I'm rather new to the jeep scene, but I am loving every moment. My 2000 is stock and I'd like to lift maybe 2 -2.5. I want the lift strictly for looks. If I do a 2 lift do I need to change tires or can I keep stock tires? what is a reasonably priced lift kit as my income is very limited? This is my DD and because of a medical condition I may have to install foot rails to help me get in and out of my XJ.......LOL

A whole lot of companies make 2 inch lifts, just shop around on quadratec until you find something you like. And as far as tires go, it is all up to you. Your stock tires will probably look a little small with 2 inches of lift but you can definantly still use them.

31's. You can fit 33's but you will have to trim a lot and bumpstop accordingly.

Do you know the lengths of the long arms on a 8inch lift?
