You will lose a ton of power with 33s on stock gears, but you can still drive with 33s and stock gears. Everyone will reccomend a different lift kit, but a lot of people run rubicon express including me and It rides pretty good, slightly rougher than stock for me. It would be like 7oo-800 dollars with shocks

Ok thank you. That is what i thought but i wasn't sure. I forgot to mention that I'm 16 and have little money so I maybe you have an idea of a kit that is less expensive. I don't think I need long travel or long arm kits cause I live in a desert so I will be doing a lot of trail riding and not too much rock crawling. Also do you think that it would be ok to do 32" tires without regearing? Thanks in advance!

I have a 3" black diamond it's decent but good for like 450 and I run 31" and front spacers on the springs because the tires rubbed

Or if your mechanically inclined at all and have access to a junkyard then just do the bastard pack lift kit. No need to spend all that money when i can guarantee you'll be going higher later on with another lift kit.

Just my two cents. And if you live in the desert I'd say its pretty flat where you live too then. And in that case you'd be okay with 31s or 32s and stock gears.

Hi guys, is it neccesary for a lower control arm drop bracket for a 5-6 inch lift on your XJ?

Long arms are the best option for that high but otherwise yes you want drop brackets. Without drop brackets it will ride horrible!

My buddy ran 5.5" on short arms no drop brackets, the ride was rough, he got drop brackets and it rides much better now,

Does anyone out there use the 3" lift kit from Rough Country Suspension? The one that comes with the lower arms and the N2.0 shocks? It was advertised in 4WOR magazine

Thanks guys, I initially wanted to go 3-4 inches but I thought what the heck let me go 5-6 inches and get it over and done with.

I'd say that atleast a third of the lifted jeeps on the forum have either used that before or are currently using it. Are you looking into the add a leaf or full leaf pack lift kit? I wouldn't recommend add a leaf if your stock leaf springs are sagging AT ALL. The add a leaf will just start sagging. If your springs are in good shape then you could go for the add a leaf. The full pack will give a much better ride and may last longer in the long run. Although I'm very pleased with my zone add a leafs.

Yea that's what I'm saying. I have add a leaf too and I'm very pleased but if your stock leafs are sagging then it's not worth it to get add a leaf

+1 for Long arm expecially for heavy offroading...BUT if you are more of a DD I would say get a full kit for 4.5-5.5 inches. My jeep was lifted 5.5 inches but I had adj control arms...Not a bad ride at all really smooth. My current XJ has 4.5 inch Rough Country lift with full leaf packs and coils. It has standard RC lower control arms, UCs are stock. no drop bracket, no SYE, no CV shaft and its gotta be the smoothest XJ Ive ever been in. No shakes, no shudders, nothing. Oh and its a 5 speed not sure if that helps but yea....

And long arms are good but if your heim joint fails or a bushing fails well lets just say things on the trail or ride home get veeeery interesting!
