That was a hot topic back a few pages on this thread.

You didnt specify how much lift you added, but the two or three thing you can do are check your ear pinion angle, add a slip yoke eliminator kit (with a double cardan driveline) for the rear drivelone, and/or transfercase drop. You might have to change all three things depending on how much lift you added.

Edit: Just remembered... Is it "shaking" (deathwobble) or "vibrating" (driveline vibs due to too much angle on the rear driveline causing it to bind)?

paying shipping once is usually cheaper than piecing together a kit, at least for a 3 inch lift
It's just a little more expensive for the one I pieced together. I only pay handling fees on one thing, all free shipping. I just want to know if the components I picked out will be by far better than the rough country kit. Or if buying a kit that was built to work together is a better choice.

I know this gets beat to death but I'm hearing different responses. Just went on 5.5" of lift. 33 BFG a/t are going on with 50% tread. I've heard of some cutting and folding the rear and others not having any issues. Does one HAVE To cut or can one leave the fenders alone?

Good News I do have is i just saved a bunch of.......oh wait not that hahaha I found swaybar links to homebrew some quck discos for the xJ!

OK, so I've read a lot of posts and realize there are many more to read, but I'll ask anyway.

I have a 2000 XJ 4.0L sport with automatice trans and axle ratio of 3.55. I'd like to add a lift and some larger tires, possibly 31 or 32 inch tires. Unfortunately I have the Dana rear axle and not an 8.25".

What is the lowest dollar option for a lift and larger tires? I have a friend that just put a 2" spacer lift on his TJ and a set of 31's.

The jeep is street driven, it's my work car/daily driver but I do have another truck to drive when this one undergoes surgery.

Any advice appreciated. I'm not looking to spend a fortune.

For the lift, search budget builds and junkyard lifts and bastard packs.

Default Help with tire rub

I bought a 96 Cherokee Country it has 31x10.5 tires on it with a two inch lift. I can put one wheel up on a curb and the tire rubs the fender flare. Other than selling off the tires and wheels, is there a simple fix to gain some clearance. Being an older guy, I aint going to be 4 wheeling other than in and out of a few fishing holes and winter driving. The rear clearance is fine it is only the front having issues.

Get extended bumpstops to limit your uptravel so you don't have to worry about rubbing. Welcome to the forum btw

chances are the two inch lift is a coil spring spacer in the front and a shackle/block lift in the back

you could trim a little where it is rubbing or find a 3/4" coil spring spacer (not the best idea to stack them, but it'll work) and see if that helps. ultimately buying a larger kit is safest (if you REALLY dont want to sell the tires), but as you said you wont be wheeling much, so i believe trimming is the best option.

I dont like the idea of cutting up such a nice rig so I guess it's either try and find (bump stops) or have a taller lift installed. Thanks for the advice I am off to try and locate the bump stops

You probably won't have to trim. I've seen first hand a jeep with 6.5 and 33s and there was plenty of room! Almost too much for me and seemed wasteful lol. So I'd say you'll be fine like it is just bump stop if you don't wanna trim to prevent rubbing offroad.

It is definatly vibs from the driveline binding. I already installed a transfer case drop and it still binds, just not as much as before the drop. I measured the lift from the center of the rear wheel to the bottom of the stock fenders and it is supposedly at 27". And from what I have heard, that would make it a 10" lift right? That just seems wrong to me. I've looked at the HnT SYE from IRO and am thinking that that would probably be my best bet with the rear driveline? I wanna measure per their instructions to see if their HnT will work, but I don't know how to remove the driveshaft to begin with.. Without being able to measure, I'm thinking it would fit if the transfer case drop stays in? But wanna make sure before ordering, ya know?
