33"s
I have trimmed the fenders and tucked the 33"s under there wth no lift. They rub at max turning and I went through a small didtch and they rubbed as well. Think I'm gonna go with Rustys 4.5 spring pack. I'm not hearing much on Rustys stuff on this site but a friend got it on his XJ and liked it. He now has Rebicon Express and likes it to but said Rustys was just as good.

Wheel / tire advice.... Please, so I don't go out of my mind!!
Hello all. I'm a noob here, so I'm sorry if this has been discussed.
I'm wanting to put a Rubicon super-flex 3.5 inch lift on my '01 XJ.
They state that you can put the standard 31-10.50/15 tire on this truck once it's lifted. I however like the look of the aluminum jeep wheels that are on the truck and figure that I should be able to put a 245-75/16 goodyear MT/R on this with no problems.
My questions are: should I change the wheels to 15's?
Is there a problem with the stock wheels being left on a lifted jeep?
And, is the 245-75/16 the largest tire I could go with this lift, if I keep the stock wheels?
This jeep is mostly going to be a daily street driver, but I want the lift just to have ground clearence if some trail riding is to be done.
Thanks for any and all help on this matter.
The lift I'm looking at includes the new rear leaf springs.

Stock wheels are 15's on a XJ. And stock on a 3.5 rubicon lift would look like crap. With a 3.5 rubicon lift you get close to 5 inches of lift. I personally would not do it. It would be too Top heavy on the small tires. You may need some wheel spacers once you do get tires to keep from rubbing on your control arms with stock rims.

2021... man does it hover? that would take all the fun out of wheeling and lifting cause you would never have to worry about tires rubbing cause you would be flying throught the sky.
Google budget boost...most companys offer a 2" budget boost kit. You could also go the junkyard route.
I know rustys offers a 1.75 budget lift kit for like 100 bucks. I dont know anything about it but finding two inch kit should be cake

Hey guys. I'm new here and have found quite a bit of help just looking through some threads and pics, but after looking through this one a little and not really having time to read every post to see if it is the right one I have to ask a question...
I have a 98 Classic. I will be getting a 4.5 lift soon and would like to go bigger than a 31, but the 32's are seemingly getting hard to come by. I found a set of wheels I want-16x10 with a 5.50 inch backspacing. I think I can run 265/75/16 with tis without having to trim, right?
I would rather not trim but also don't want too big of a gap.
Thanks.

What about trimming? I was told that 33" would require a bumper trim. You're right, bigger would be better, I just want to do it without the trimming. I doubt that I would ever be at full flex, but don't really want to scrub doing u turns and stuff.

ummmmm.... stay with 31s then. if youre not going to be at full flex then why go with such a big lift? go with a 3" kit and 31"s. you need a lot of extras once you go up to 4.5", adjustable trac bar, drop pitman arm, slip yoke eliminator, etc., basically a bunch of extra money that if you dont need to go to 4.5, you dont need to spend... i was trimmed with 3" and 31"s because i stuffed my tires in there. my stock flares ripped off from it so i trimmed. now im at 4.5" with longarms and 33"s because the type of wheeling that i do now, i needed to go bigger.

I appreciate your help.
I was going 4.5 just for the height. When I got the XJ I was surprised at how low it sits. 3 and 31" needs no trimming, right? I really don't know a lot about lifts, my Ramcharger was already done when I got it, so this is the first installed. I actually thought that the kit would include the necessary parts you listed.
The shop doing the lift gave me the price and I thought that they would know what I need and include it.
