Besides that, you may need extended brake lines. I didn't install them when I lifted mine, but I never got a chance to wheel it and test the flex.
Maybe i'll put the kit on and then put an adj track bar on down the road? Thanks for the reply!

I don't blame you. I was in a major rush to get my lift on before I went home on leave in February. The other Maryland guys were on the verge of killing me if i didn't shut up about it

I just wanna make sure you know it is an important part. I strongly suggest the Iron Rock Off Road double shear track bar (here). It's priced at the lower end of the spectrum, and it's ridiculously beefy. I rolled my XJ twice and didn't even scratch it. Now it's on dukie564's XJ with his new lift.

but yes you really need to get a trackbar to put on WITH the lift, not later down the road

would you be mad at me if I get the cheaper $139.99 adj track bar instead of the double shear one?

I have that one, the one without the double shear upgrade, and the bar itself is the same. I wheel pretty hard and have had ZERO problems. Double shear is better but the standard end will do just fine

And yes, you really need to get a new track bar. Trust dukies advice, he's never steered me wrong and he isn't the kind of guy who talks out his ***

Well then maybe i'll go all IRO and get the 3" kit with full leaf packs and track bar and not bother with sway bar disconnects. The kit seems to be more complete than the zone kit. A total of $760...

Yep, I'd be

Nah, the standard is just fine. But for that $50 difference, the double sheer is more durable and I think it binds less when you get into tall lifts. I don't remember all the research I did on it, but I decided it was worth it in the long run. That's your choice, though, and either product is coming from a great company.

I'd say good choice. I love those guys, and I want to order from them again when I lift my Comanche.

We don't, but I got CF on their Resources page. I'm hoping it will progress so we either get a representative here or a discount code.

Thats a bummer. One more question and i think i am ready: should I bother with the nitro shock upgrade?

That depends on you. I don't care about ride quality, and I used shocks from a 2011 4dr JK Rubicon Wrangler. They were incredibly stiff, and I felt every crack in the road, but I could corner like a madman.

i just want to hear some opinions on what you guys would do
i want to go with 33' tires
would i be able to go with a 3.5 lift with some trimming?
is that worth it
i don't want to go any higher just due to the extra parts needed
i want a rig thats between a street and mud rider

whats a good lift kit?
something not too fancy but nothing thats gonna fall apart
recommend doing it myself or having a shop do it?
I'm looking to spend 800 for the lift
thats including labor
my brothers friend said he has done them before and he would help me but would have to charge and he has a shop with everything need

any input would be great
this is my first jeep and plan to keep it for a while so i want to do it right

I along with alot of guys on here run a 4.5" lift on 33s it does require some trimming fair warning. Price wise rough country or zone would probably net you the in between you're looking for without really skimping on to much. If you go with rough country contact grimus for the 10% discount (I'm sure there's a zone vendor here aswell don't know who though). As for installation it's your call.
