Also, I looked at this lift kit, and there's Series I and Series II. Series II has control arms, which Series I doesn't have. Series I is $255.95, and Series II is $345.95. Which should I be getting?

Default Coil spring retainer clip

Does anybody know how to tighten this bolt down? When I broke it loose it felt like it was just spinning, so I apploed upward pressure on it while spinning and it brought it up enough for me to slide over the spring. I got the new spacer installed and the spring back in, but now the retainer clip bolt is not tightening. I just want to make sure it is securely tightened before I finish everything up. I'm going to hit the next spring. Any advice or help would be awesome!

Just re-tap the holes, easier without the springs. Can't remember the size, just bring the old bolts to the hardware store and find a tap a size bigger.
Oh, i used loctite blue for safe measure.
Don't bother buying the "Heavy Duty Coil Spring Retainers"....they don't work.

If you're on a budget, then rough country can't be beat. Take a look at the kits they have. No matter what you get make sure it's a full leaf pack not add a leaf. Another plus about rough country is that they have really complete kits. I've got their 6.5" long arm kit and I love it. If you want 31's you'll probably want a 4.5" lift, 30's fit well on a 3" lift. That's what I ran for years.

And as for the different tire size suggestions, I prefer to go a tad bit smaller so I've got enough room for the tires to go all over and not rub.

Control arms would be a bonus. They'll keep your axle where it should be and aftermarket ones would be stronger.

Would buying a replacement rear leaf spring and an aal from company X be cheaper and give similar boost as if you had purchased a full leaf with the lift kit from company X, I'm thinking eventually going 3" but my current leafs are falling.

Yes but the full packs will flex better and last longer. They will also ride nicer depending on the brand

Default Removing old leaf packs.

I have new packs bolts and bushings, so I am not worried about damaging any of the old material. DO you think the best situation for me is to just cut them out with a grinder? one side I have the bolt out of the nut and into just the bushing sleeve, the other i'm afraid may just be spinning on the other end (not backing out). I have read that the easiest way to do this would be to just go in from underneath my rear seat to get into the unibody. (the floor will be replaced within the next two months so not too worried) Any input on this I'd like to hear.

Also, I have a tow hitch not sure if it is oem or what. But when I go to back out the shackle to leaf it is going to be in the way. Are these tough to remove? or any ideas to dodge it? I'll post pictures in the morning. To dark out right meow. and also I'm working with all hand tools. So please spare me...

My hitch was in the way, but I managed to work around it. Just take the shackle off the jeep and then take it off the leaf, does this make sense?

As for cutting the bolts, I had a ton of trouble with mine, I mean it took all day just to get the leafs out, they were rusted as hell but I didn't have to cut any of the bolts. For the bolts seized in the sleeve you can cut the eye and bushing off and notch the sleeve but if you have new hardware then I would just cut it.

Also don't sweat the all hand tools thing, my bolts were so tight and seized that my impact wrench couldn't turn them. I had to get someone to stand and bounce on a breaker bar with a long cheater bar while I held it on the bolt on the front eyes of the leafs.

an SYE will let you keep all of your belly clearance, with a drop you lose 2" and have to worry about beating your tcase up

Also the SYE sets you up for bigger lifts in the future, if that's what you're planning

I got the series II since I wanted the extra ride quality. The new control arms that come with the series II make it take bumps in the road easier. Again, not necessary but recommended.

Also, on their site at the bottom of the page for both kits, there is an add on for full leaf packs, I urge you to save the money and get them. Because full leafs are easier to install, last longer, and won't sag.

Yep, I see what you are saying about the shackle. Didn't even think about that! Hopefully I can get to the shackle bolts easily! And last night I seriously went super saiyan loosening the bolts on the main eye. And that's a dragon ball z reference for those of you who don't know haha.

On my jeep the shackle to frame bolts came out pretty easy.
