well I was going to go with the OME lift from DPG Offroad but funds are not going to allow for that right now. However I do have a set of MT Sidebiters with 31x10.5 tires sitting in the garage. Soooo I am wondering what is the cheapest way to lift the XJ to get the 31's on there until I can afford the OME lift and not cut anything?

if money is an issue, most of us do budget builds. there's an entire thread for that.

id say comfortably go with 3" lift for good 31" tire clearance.

do you have a link possibly? and when you say budget build do you mean peicing parts together instead of buying a complete kit?

If you are willing to trim you can run 31's on no lift. I did it for quite some time. Just leave the front swaybar hooked up and you'll be good to go

I am trying to avoid trimming at all costs.

Ahhhh well then, build a bastard pack from the jy and get some cheap coils or some spacers. If you don't wheel it your brake lines should be fine but you're gonna need new shocks.

EDIT: At 3" your axle will be pulled to the drivers side with the stock track bar, so you won't be able to get an alignment. And you can use stock jk shocks as well.

Stock JK Wrangler shocks work for a 3" lift on an XJ. It'll ride rough, but you can get 'em cheap or free from someone who's lifting their JK.

Don't really want to sacrifice ride quality since this is my DD. I am leaning more and more to the rough country lift. Pretty cheap and when I do upgrade to OME I can just sell the Rough Country Kit.

Any Opinions on this kit? Is there anything else I might need? Do I need control arms if I am not wheeling?

Rough country is just that. With a jeep you can't have cheap without sacrificing ride quality. But to answer your question, yes that's everything you need. You will need drop brackets for the swaybar or longer links/discos

I would just keep it stock until you can afford the lift you want.
